definitely, nothing less then #1 in every category is acceptable. the fact that we allowed anyone to get yards or score means that the entire defense should perform seppuku

What the bashers on this board don't seem to realize is that teams in todays college game are flawed. The GREAT LSU defense has given up 24+ points agme (5) times this year, including 43 to UK.

Our defense is indeed rank.

Wait... what?

What happened last week was a total failure of the entire team. The defense came out looking absolutely superb, then snoozed off and forgot to cover the best receiver in the conference for most of the first half. The offense... look, if your senior running back can't get the nerve signals from his brain to his forearms quickly enough to secure a handoff, you've got bigger issues than a leaky pass defense.

That said, I do NOT accept that we couldn't get people in place to cover Crabtree. I do NOT accept 450 yards of offense by Baylor followed the next week by 450 yards of passing by Harrell.

The defense has not improved week-to-week this year, in fact, the trend is quite clearly reversed. The offensive line, while great in pass protection, has not progressed from week to week to play anywhere near its potential. In fact I'd say the only consistent improvement I've seen has been from Murray and Brown, and perhaps Gresham.

I leave Bradford off because he started pretty freaking awesome and keeps it up when he's not wondering what zip code he's in.

I laughed when I read that Bradford told Heupel he didn't remember the plays he'd just run. Maybe they just... weren't worth remembering...

My biggest complaint about the defense is why do we have to wait until halftime to make adjustments? Seems like we do OK in the 2nd half.

we are 83rd in passing defense...

when was the last time we were 83rd in anything
Can't remember who was DC under blake but i'll bet we were close to 83rd then. Wow, a comparison to Blake????
Just seems with the Cast of Stars we seem to have, we should not have to deal with such poor results. Are they performing poorly and out of position soo much? scheme? or coaching? Well 9-2 aint bad anyway, just tastes bad after a shot at the MNC... Hook em

Weren't we 86th or something after Oregon last year?

Wasn't that like after the 2nd game? where ALL stats are hopelessly skewed?
NOT after the 11th game where stats are much more reliable valid and accurate?

In Big XII play, the offense is doing FAR worse than the defense. Just taking into account conference games, OU is 7th in scoring offense and 8th in total offense.

And if we could get that stat when the trigger man is under center in the I formation and only on 3rd downs with Chris Brown AND/OR Allen Patrick in away games in either the States of Texas, Kansas and Iowa, in the rain from 11:00 to 2:30 pm, and when the calendar is on an odd day.

Maybe, but a good defense is more important than a good offense.

Texas Tech has ranked #1 in offense for several years now and they always find a way to lose 3-5 conference games.

I would bet a lot of $$$ that a team with the #1 defense and #9 rated offense would win a LOT more games than a team with #1 offense and #9 defense.
