I still use the word "icebox" instead of refrigerator. I'm not sure why or how I got in the habit of that, but that's what I've called it my entire life.

"gay" is no longer used to mean happy... except at virginia.

There is actually a controversy about this. Their little "Good Old Song" which sounds like the New Year's song, has the line "where all is fine and gay," to which some students, since the 70s, yelled after this line either "I'm not gay!" or "NOT GAY!"

I think they are perfectly good words to teach kids arithmetic, but the education establishment is against me on this. Words such as regrouping, compose, and decompose are the preferred words.
