I guess because it's so far removed in time it's easier to dismiss, but IMO that's in worse taste than the vick 'em shirts.

140 years ago, Missouri's finest (bushwackers) would grow mullets to distinguish themselves from "federals" as to avoid shooting each other.

Basically, the only thing that's changed in 140 years is the creation of meth.

If you stop at the end of the story and don't read the comments, you're cheating yourself out of some good readin'. My favorite: "Suck it, slavers."

it's so nice to see that collegiate athletics can still generate mindless hate between neighbors.
Gives me warm fuzzy feelings right down to my toes.

There's agreat movie called Ride with the devil about his time period, and it was not just Missourians murdering Kansans, it was both sides.

The best part of the movie is you get to see a historically accurate plot, lots of gunplay AND Jewel breastfeeding a baby! What more could you want?

Just a little FYI. They are absolutely not kidding about any of this up here. You might see that shirt and say "Oh, what a card, that young man. He sure is trying to get the goat of that other fanbase."

Nope. Odds are, he'd like to be the one to take/paint that picture the next time it happens.

Yes, only teams ranked 2nd or higher avoid "cripple" status. :D

Border War - it's hard to explain the hate between these two schools/states. Many people hear/see it during the basketball games, but because our football programs haven't been on the map, people don't see how nasty these games get. I would never attend a football game in Lawrence & wouldn't recommend kU fans coming to Columbia. This game in KC is going to be nasty...before, during and after. Serving alcohol during the game will make it that much worse. I think the whole country will get an eye opener next week on what might not be the biggest rivalry, but the nastiest.

& oh yea...F**K KANSAS

A pretty cool audio clip from former KU coach Don Farmbrough giving a pep talk to his team about Missouri.

Oooo, add to that the state of Missouri's loose liquor laws...

Folks, this might turn into some West End in the 70's style fun. I'm talkin rowdy drunken brawls in KC all week long between 2 fanbases. :pop:

Ohhh, and serving alcohol DURING the game? Imagine if they did this in Dallas...

Westport or the Plaza might be pretty fun. Since the schools are so close to KC, the neutral site appeal really isn't what it is for OU-TX...

Anyone know how the tickets are split on this game? How many MU tickets are allotted? Surely it's not a 50/50 split like OU/TX.

It is/was a 50/50 split. The kU fans are complaining because they had a jacked up system for getting theirs (basically there wasn't a system). I've heard a lot of MU fans getting tickets in the kU sections. I don't know how much of that is going in the other side, but that will only make it worse.

And all this time I only thought we had a rivalry with saxet. Kansas versus Missouri is in another league.
