We use a tight end almost every down, sometimes two, sometimes three. We use the I formation, we like to use counter plays and just started using a little counter toss play that was effective. We seem to be holding back the direct snap to the RB, we used a little against aTm, I think the coaches liked the way it worked and shelved it for a rainy day.

Our QB rarely gets pressured, we do a lot of 5 and sometimes 7 step drops, and we like to strech the field vertically. In the end, we don't take huge chancess, and are content to play the field position game. We've trailed on the scoreboard about 4 minutes all season, so we haven't seen a pass every down type of offense, which I think would be very effective.

So what everyone is trying to say, OU really doesn't run one set on offense which makes them dangerous.

we dont really have a offensive scheme with a fancy title easy to describe in one word, its a fairly balanced system with elements of spread in it, we use what works and suits our talent. we dont run the option, we dont throw it 70 times a game. we're not specifically "west coast", "pro system", "spread option", "fun n gun", "raider/byu/hawaii"

well my buddy and I were discussing the situation at Nebraska and I really like your offense because it's seems to be pretty smashmouth, yet you still throw it around when it's there. It's simple enough that a freshman can pick up, it's not the spread (not my favorite) and I just like it.

and I was saying to my buddy, "I think we should run the _______ offense that OU runs." And it got me thinking, what in the hell do y'all run? Alright. It's got no name. I'll remember that.

Our offense is a basic "pro set" offense, which at various times employs various wrinkles such as multiple wideouts, multiple tight ends, and multiple running backs. We also have a shotgun set and an I-formation set but we start in the pro set.

Okay, back to lurking.

Balanced Offense, that is pretty much what it is, what is named, you have shotgun sets, I formation (both normal I, strong I, and Weak I) and the ace. nothing fancy, just hit em hard then burn em deep

Yea, pretty much any noob off the street can come in and be the most effective passer in the NCAA. It'll work for anyone!

Our coaches (in particular our QB coach - who just may be the best assistant in college football) and our players make it look a lot more simple than it is. Getting 12 seconds to throw on every passing play before the first defender gets through generally helps.

It's definitely a pro-style offense, but not west coast. The west coast involves a lot of quick slants, passes to the running back out on the flat, and no mid-range passes. We do a lot of midrange and little of the other stuff. That being said we borrow things from other offenses, including shotgun, two TE, 3 wide, etc.

FWIW I think Nebraska should look into running a West-Virginia-style spread-run offense. You don't see too many of the spread where they run instead of pass but it's obviously very effective with the right personnel. It's based more on speed than the traditional power running game Nebraska is used to, but it would be an homage of some kind. Bottom line though is OU had to adapt, so will NU.
