I knew he had been a QB in college but the NFL?I did not know that and looking at him neither would most people. For those who don't recall Galen he was Barry's fiest o-coordinator at OU.Sizewise he was somewhere between Blake and Mangino(hefty-hefty,hefty,hefty).

He played in 16 games in the '62 and '63 seasons, stats:

64 completions-150 attempts-42.7 %
5TDs/10 ints-885 yds
Judging by those numbers Galen was perfect for coaching OUr 'bone QBs in the passing game. :) Galen is now 0-coordinator at Penn State(his alma mater). He was listed at 5'10 215 as a player.I'm thinking he was 250 at OU.

Galen was also the HC at Florida that got UF on probation in the late 70's.

He coached in the World Football League (Orlando Thunder - 1992), NFL Europe (Rhein Fire - 1995-2000) and the XFL (Orlando Rage - 2001) as well.

Actually it was the mid to late 80's; Galen was still at OU into the early 80's
