Anybody ever heard of a "Blender Motor" going out.
I started up my explorer this morning and it had this awful constant loud clicking noise. I took it to the dealer and they told me the blender motor is out it will cost $800 to fix.
Margerita jokes aside, is this for real?

Common problem. It's basically a servo that controls the mixing of conditioned air. Mine is about ready to go out too.
Don't know about the $800 bit tho.

It's actually a "blend door motor". The door itself use to be available through Ford but in the corporation's infinite wisdom it ditched the door only & incorporated it into the whole heater plenum several years ago. I remember getting verbally abused by customers when I told them. It's been several years ago but I think the part was about $150-175 & the labor 6-8 hours since the tech had to partially pull the dash.

Oriellys says the Motor is availble for 34 bucks
Turn the thing on get down there and see if you can get to it. If so its an easy fix .
