Tonight on KOCO-5 in OKC they will be doing a story on our product and services. It should air on the 6pm news.

I know I haven't done a very good job of describing the device or the services it can perform (found in the Networking forum) for you, so hopefully some of you F'n hillbillies can watch this news story tonight and get a better understanding.

Tune in and let me know what you guys think! :hot:

Although I was once in the US Navy this has nothing to do with their fleets... (the military has been using our technology for years.)

Forgive me if I am a bit excited. This is HUGE for us and eventually could be a boon for the local economy as well as my own!

DAYAMMMM I can't wait to see the response from this... we are also going to be featured on channel 4 on Friday night's 10pm broadcast!

It's supposed to be featured on the six-o-clock news, they have had a couple of commercials hyping the broadcast on during the day.

I won't get to watch it until after the fact because I will be here at the office dealing with an influx of calls we anticipate receiving.

It really is a great product especially when you compare it to the other similar products out on the market. Tonights news story about it will focus on the teen tracking applications of our system. Those same selling points are great for employee and fleet tracking as well.

Most people see a return on investment within the first two months. Your insurance will most likely give you a discount that will pay for the service all by itself.

Small businesses are able to track their assets and ensure that employees don't use company time and equipment on personal business.

Logistics specialists and fleet managers can use our services to help them dispatch their drivers more efficiently.

There are so many productive and useful applications for this service and if you can see past the initial cost of the device it can and will save you money and worry in the future.

Unlikely, only reason I'd find it useful is if the vehicle was stolen

Even though they CLEARLY say this is not it's purpose.

They should incorporate that into their name or something so people aren't confused.

No one said it was for everyone.

Some people just don't care where there children are.
Some folks don't mind being ripped off by their employees.
Others don't want to know where the spouse is when they are "working late" again.

To each his own. All I know is there are plenty of people who do care (some a bit too much perhaps) about keeping tabs on the things that are important to them.

I can see from the overwhelmingly positive comments on this thread that internet sales is not my thing. I am not now, nor ever was expecting any of you to buy our stuff. I was just excited about the free advertisement on the news and wanted to share. I'll go try to sell my swampland elsewhere.

Played golf in Scottsdale a few years ago. The golf cart had a 13 inch GPS screen similar to those here in this area at some courses. The cool thing about this one, and I haven't seen it around here anywhere, is that you could operate a cursor and place it on a tree or bunker and it would tell you the distance to that hazard. It also showed the foursome ahead's golf carts, indicated by a red icon.

Place the cursor on one of the red golf carts, get the yardage, swing away and yell "FORE" as loud as you can...get another beer.

I love the desert. Slow play? Notsomuch.

Sounds like an upscale kind of course... how many of the courses around here do you think would be able to afford a system like that?

Ours would be good for the golf pro who wants to see which hacker is out there holding up play. Lord knows most of the courses around here could use that!

Mjcpr

Battle Creek has GPS in their carts and it shows the carts of the group ahead of you with distance but there isn't a moveable cursor though.

Coffee Creek has GPS carts, but not the cursor. Nor did any of the GPS-installed courses in Northern California I have played. This was the only course I've seen that has the cursor. Stonecreek CC in Paradise Valley/Scottsdale.

<whistle Anchors Away while you read this>

Back in the late '80's, I was a navigator and went out to Westmarine and purchased a handheld Magellan GPS unit for about $1100.00. It was so basic it was like an abacus compared to the current models....eventually we figured out a way to hook it up to our communications antenna/mast and became the first nuclear submarine in the US Atlantic Fleet to have GPS capability (albiet only at periscope depth). Eventually the engineers from squadron came down and took a bunch of notes and eventually released a temporary alteration (SHIPALT) directing the other submarine commands to do the same.

By the time I retired (misnomer) we had completely incorporated GPS into our weapons' and navigation systems and of course, every ship carries several hardwired systems. Submarines still have to get close to periscope depth to get a signal though.

One thing not commonly known: the military "owns" the GPS system and satellites and whenever national security warrants, it becomes encoded, so only military units can receive the signal. Golfers and truckdrivers and BMW drivers, (along with the Bad Guys) will have to go back to maps and stars...

Needless to say, I am a huge fan of GPS and agree that there are amazing applications not even yet considered that will change all of our lives, similar to the microchip....

Thanks for the mike.....

Look dude, chill, I think it's a great idea and has it's place...but, and let me be very clear about the next few points.

If you need a GPS to keep track of your teenager, you need to do a better job of parenting.

If you need GPS to know that you have a worthless employee, do a better job of managing.

and if you need a GPS to keep tabs on your spouse, then you don't need to be married to that person.

Horrible, just horrible arguments FOR.

Like I said, I see it's uses and how it can be great, but I can also see it being used by automakers and the federal government to keep tabs on everyday Americans.

OU4LIFE

And on the golf course side, I played a course a while back that had the GPS on the carts tied into the drive system, if you got too close to a 'native area' the cart would just die, and force you to use reverse to back away from the area.

Nice way to keep yahoos from tearing **** up and driving too close to greens and stuff. Great example of the application.

It's great yet horrible all at once? Those are called selling points for most people unless they are unduly paranoid for some reason. But I guess when you are the perfect parent, employer and spouse you've got to be worried someone is out to follow your every move.

KFOR (http://kfor.com/) did another story on us geared more toward the commercial applications of our product. If you look under Special Reports Videos ours is the first clip listed as "Caught In The Act".

Once again the local news has helped to generate some interest and get our name out there in the local community. This has been a great week for us with more to come. We are working on a product for use by the NFL and they are wanting to offer us free superbowl tickets to come and run the system for them... this could be fun!
