College football was born.

Rutgers and Princeton faced off in an epic battle in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Final score:
Rutgers 6
Princeton 4

Lee Corso picked Princeton.

A public outcry of media bias broke out the following day when Lou Holtz had winless Notre Dame ranked higher than undefeated Rutgers.

...followed almost immediately by Oregon starting a program and claiming they were denied the chance to play Rutgers for the championship by the East coast biased media.

... the next day Alabama started a football program and claimed the 1869 National Championship.

A few hours afterwards, Notre Dame filed an injunction to block Alabama's efforts to claim the National Championship based on the premise that Alabama illegally stole Notre Dame's methods regarding how to win National Championships.

Here's a pretty good link from Rutgers, including an account of the game itself:

Does it mention the play where Rutgers got jobbed by instant replay?
