View Full Version : AD getting all kinds of love....

.....and deservedly so. though he isn't 40, he's a MAN.

ironically, brad childress isn't getting nearly as much love. he's turned a 5-3 team into a 3-5 team with some of his bonehead decisions. he completely shut the O down in at least 3 games this year, and the Vikes had legit chances to win all 3.

good job, brad. you're frantastic.

To be fair... Minnesota having AD is like Detroit having Barry Sanders. Those teams would be beyond awful without 'that one player.'

Imagine AD with someone with a pulse throwing the ball... like Houston or Denver. I don't necessarily care for either of those teams, but damn... how much better can you get? I'll tell ya, learn how to throw the ball consistently and watch your rushing yardage improve. Could he really be much better than he is now, though?

This morning on the fan(KFAN radio 1130), the producer gave even more accolades to AD. Seems he was at a perkins early Monday morning(about 3:00 am) and there were some viking football players having breakfast. Two of the tables got up an left with out paying their bill. At a third table there was an obnoxious(loud and rude player and a quiet one). The quiet player was wearing a hat and sunglasses(no one could recognize him. He got up and paid the waitress for the two tables that left and gave her a hug, a twenty dollar tip, and apologized for the obnoxious player. Seems he forgot his cell phone and came back to get it. Low and behold it was AD. Hows that? A rookie covering at Perkins for other players who walked out on their bill or were obnoxious to the waitress. The producer said that AD was a gentleman all day. AD obviously has a lot of character. I sure wish him the best! Back to lurking.

He needs to hold out this summer before camp and demand LT money, or he will be foreced to retire.

Seriously.

That's just typical Adrian Peterson. I heard from a few people that met him while he was here that he was very down-to-earth with everyone. He never let the success he had here go to his head.

AD is also getting all kinds of coin. He's surpassing lots of incentives in his contract. That = DOLLAR SIGNS, to quote Coach Mangino.

Halfway through his rookie season, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is piling up the yards and the cash.

Peterson, who already has guaranteed himself a one-time, $2.45 million bonus by surpassing 701 yards rushing, is halfway to another sizable incentive. He can add $2.5 million to his $2.695 million base salary for 2010 by topping 1,000 yards in two of his first three seasons.

If he tops 1,300 yards once, he adds $1 million to his fifth-year salary, scheduled to be $3.94 million. If he tops 1,300 yards twice, $3 million would be added to his fifth-year salary.

Reaching 2,000 yards or scoring 20 touchdowns in a single season would add $1 million for each instance to his 2011 base salary. Interestingly, if Peterson remains at this torrid pace, his 2011 pay could top $8 million, a threshold that could compel the Vikings to negotiate an extension.

He also could earn $250,000 bonuses for rookie of the year, league most valuable player and Super Bowl MVP.

Peterson would have to win every accolade, rush for 2,000 yards and score 20 touchdowns to earn $40.5 million over the next five seasons. More realistically, Peterson, who was guaranteed $17 million, could earn up to $30 million.

But nothing seems out of reach for Peterson, who leads the NFL in rushing with 1,036 yards. Asked about Peterson's potential, Vikings coach Brad Childress said, "All you can go by is the numbers, and the numbers say that nobody has done that before.

"I do believe he is going to get better and better, and obviously, he'll have to do it with the five guys that are in front of him."
Two players have won two consecutive NFL rookie of the month awards. But Peterson is well on his way to a third in a row, something that has not been done since the award started in 1996. Jevon Kearse won the award three times in 1999, but not in three consecutive months.

The funny thing is that I can totally see them having to make a new batch of shirts later this season with 3?? on them instead of 296. The Vikings play 4 of the bottom 9 rushing defenses to finish out the year (49ers, Bears, Raiders, Broncos).

Peterson was a great player for OU and I think it's good that he is doing well, but I hope all this isn't going to end up with the level of idolatry seen on Hornfans with VY.

May I recommend you go back to presiding over your university and not worry about what we do on here?

Peterson is actually a good NFL football player, not just the see-through pants wearing star of whorn's wet dreams.
