Your post is about 100 times more praise than they deserve.

But they look so good in the commercials!!! ;)

A professional (house) painter told me that if you want it to last a long time, you have to roll it or brush it.

I can also agree with this thread. We spent almost three weeks painting our house, most of which was spent messing with those f'in sprayers!

Dont get a power roller either. They are only good for one job

What job is that?

I think this is the first situation I cannot give a perverted/nasty response.

Well done Pat, you stumped me

We started painting a few weeks ago and a friend brought his sprayer and compressor over. After about 5 minutes I told him thanks but no thanks and sent the wife to go buy rollers

Airless sprayers, used by the right hands, are hard to beat. In the wrong hands they can do horrible damage in a short period of time.

Small Wagners are a piece of crap.

If you like to roll, try a 3/4" knap sheepskin roller. I usually spray ceilings and closets while rolling walls. Outside it depends on the surface. If you have two people, spraying the paint on and having the other roll behind is a pretty efficient way of getting the job done.

Hey sas, how easy is it to apply latex paint with an air compressor and a paint gun? is it even worth trying?

No. Go rent an airless.

Boarder is right.

To spray latex with a conventional set up you have to thin it a lot. Even then it fogs, sputters, and just doesn't cooperate.

Oils and laquers spray very nice with a conventional set up.

I have painted two houses, pretty much inside and out, with a Wagner Power Roller. If you have a lot of area to cover, it is nice to not have to dip your roller in the bucket over and over. With that said, cleanup takes a while.

I live in a 2 story house. The dormers are pretty high up there. My painter friend told them to get a long roller extension and get most of it whilst standing on the ground. It was some of the best advice I ever got. He also told me how to set up a painters rig with a five gallon bucket. SAS's advice about the 3/4" nap sheep skin is dead on, nothing works better.
