There are pros and cons to each. It'll depend on what your price range is, what your preferred application is, and what kind of space you have.

Just saying "DLP, Plasma, or LCD" doesn't really help. A Pioneer Kuro plasma is going to look better than a Vizio LCD. A Sony Bravia LCD is going to look better than a Magnetbox plasma.

Also, what size of TV are you looking for? Is 1080p important? How about 1080p24? Deep color capability?

OK. 50" or more. Great. How far are you going to sit from it and what are you going to be watching?

CRT

Heh. Good luck finding a 50" CRT, and when you do, make sure to factor in the cost of structural reinforcement to your home...

(I assume you're not talking an RP CRT but an honest-to-God CRT?)

OK.

You're at a distance and display size where 1080p can make a noticeable difference over 720p. Of course, there's no 1080p broadcast source out there as yet, so that's something you'll want to consider. All digital displays will scale whatever is fed into them to their native resolution, though-and native 1080i will look better on a 1080p TV than they will on a 768p native TV (which most "720p" TVs are.)

The 50" Panasonic plasma is pretty nice at Sams. They have a 720 and a 1080. Price and of course the clarity are the only diff. Both are excellent.

I too am in the 50" 10 feet camp...and I feel like I deserve it.

We are looking at Sony's at the moment...and I won't just be watching football, we are avid movie and tv watchers as well.
