View Full Version : No OKC Area QB at OU in How Many Years?

Something one of the moron announcers said during the slaughter,I mean game last night bothers me.They said something about Sam being the first OKC area QB starter at OU in 30 or 40 years?Did Cale Gundy of Midwest City('90-'93) not count?Last time I looked Midwest City was in the OKC area.

They would be referring to Kelly Phelps (from PC) I imagine, but I would consider Jason and Cale to be from the OKC area as well. It doesn't matter if it is a suburb or not.

but uh just wonderin... who was our last standout player who tranferred from a major program?? the only person i can think of is hybl from UGA but im sure there are more...

Shows they know very little about the teams. The quick fact searches they do before the game are incomplete.

Well I'm guessing they did have the fact that Phelps was the last OKC qb, but just said OKC area rather than OKC.

I heard that too... just about five minutes after they showed the image of Jason White at the heisman cerimony in '03 and he definitely said OKC area. I looked at my wife and said something about them not having a clue and then realized they probably don't know how close to OKC Tuttle is. I wasn't even thinking about Cale.

Just one of the many stupid things they said last night.

not OU related, Brian Calhoun had a great year at Wiscy after transferring from Colorado. Colt Brennan another CU t-fer (though he was "encouraged" to leave after showing a CU coed his little Colt).

McGruder,Ah You,Hybl are it as far as I can recall.Torrance Marshall started out at Miami I think but went juco and then to OU as did Heupel, Weber State-Snow Juco-OU.

Didn't Jay Jimerson (OMG i'm really showing my age) play a game at QB in 1976 or 1977? And I think we can all agree that NORMAN is in the OKC area.
