Just had a nice run around the end, then punched it in for a 1 yd TD.

They also had a graphic up showing he has, for the season, more rushing yards than 15 NFL teams have.

I do hope he starts to go out of bounds more and limits the number of shots he takes per game. I really want to see him have a nice career, not be a 3 year phenom.

Is it me, or does it seem to everyone else that AD runs harder and faster now that he is in the NFL? He has done things this year that he would or did not do in college. Is it the coaching? The schemes? Maybe he was holding back for the $$$. Would not blame him there.

It's called "having a better offensive line to run behind". The idea that he "held back" while he was at OU is, frankly, retarded.

Every thing in the NFL is harder and faster than it is in college ball, and every player plays better than they did in college.

18 yard run by AD to keep a drive going was nullified by holding. Argh. The only thing I wish is that he played for a better team. Minn is just young all over the field.

The Vikes defense is playing pretty well and has been improving weekly. The SD defense isn't doing as well now. The running game opened up the passing game now.

I kind of like the two back system that Dallas has, Jones and Barber are two completely different styles and the way they use the slasher (Jones) early and the hammer (Barber) later when the defense is a little more worn down to punish them even more is pretty good. Barber is better but you really need two good backs in the league right now.

Um... third on OU's all-time rushing totals, less than 100 yards behind Billy Sims and Joe Washington. He only played 2 1/2 seasons, and was injured for a good portion of that. His freshman season was the highest single-season rushing total in OU history, with 11 games over 100 yards. He posted single-game rushing totals of 249, 240, 237, 225, 220, 211, 183 (twice), 172, 165, 146 (twice), 139, 135, 130, 128, 122, 117, 109, 108, 101, and 100. he did about everything short of winning a Heisman and MNC

he still hasn't played that many games in the NFL, and in reality he hasn't been as consistent there as he was at OU. he went pretty deep into his freshman season without not hitting 100 yards (Nebraska)

Minnesota doesn't have as many options in their offense as we did either, so these single huge games have a chance to get even more out of hand.

I think the newb has a point, although he backed his argument with complete idiocy and deserves what is coming to him for implying AD is greedy. The first thing I noticed this season that was different than his time at OU is that he is being used as a pass-catching option more often as a viking. It does seem like he is bigger, but maybe that's just a part of his body maturing and simply becoming stronger as he gets older. I don't really remember him running around people as much either during his time at OU either. He seems to have better moves than anything he showed us at OU (at least from what I remember), and he seems to be using them a lot more in the NFL.

He never did hold back anything while he was on the field, he never held back when he was rehabbing from injuries, he never held back when the team was down, and he still doesn't hold anything back. That has stayed the same, and will stay the same throughout his career. He never thought about how much he was going to get paid, and he never played soft or took downs off when he was being used as a decoy. He did show that he had loads of power and blazing speed while a Sooner. I had heard that some NFL scouts said AD was the best running back they had ever seen during his freshman year.

I know, I know.....he was hurt a bunch, but with these monsters he is running over why is he not getting hurt now? I think my questions are legit. I love AD, but something seems afoot.

did you ever watch michael jordan when he was at north carolina? he was good, but no way was he as good as he was in the pros. peterson suffered from a serious lack of blocking execution in college - too many guys would just stand around and watch him do his thing. heck, how many times yesterday did you see a running back get drug down by the backside DE because someone threw a lazy block thinking there was no way their guy could make the play? when you get to the pros and take a play off, they know it and they fine you for it. guys tend to give a heck of a lot more effort when $$ is on the line...

Its almost like he has NFL coaches, with NFL quality facilities, training equipment, and all that kind of stuff around him 24/7, without having to do stuff like, say, college exams and studying. Its his job now. Its retarded to think that he wouldnt be even better in the NFL than he was in college. He was amazing in college while he was having to do classwork and stay academically eligible. Now he just has to play football.

The only part of the equation he ignored is the quality of defense AD is facing now as opposed to then.

You must be kidding. But no, you're sticking with it. That AD held back at OU is absolutely one of the silliest ideas I've ever seen posted on this board. Stop and think about what you are saying, man. <shakes head in amazement>

But wait - a serious answer: One of the talking heads suggested thaht AD is actually learning more stuff about running in the NFL from his coaches, specifically Eric Bienemy. Could be.
NOTE TO SELF: Read the thread ! :O

There's also the "novelty factor"

Looking back, I think that AD was more successful his freshman year at OU, at least number-wise, than in any following year. It seems like opposing teams became better defending him with practice. Not to the point of neutralizing him, of course, but to keep him from routinely ripping off 200 yards every game.

Ne may be enjoying the same benefit of bringing new and different running style to the NFL before teams learn how to contain him. At least a little bit...

In college AD was the one guy that all defenses OU played against was trying to stop. Minnesota, while not being the most talented NFL team, does have other NFL caliber weapons that teams must be aware of, they can key on AD but they can't make him the sole target of their defensive gameplan. Now having said that...AD keeps running for 300 yards per game that might change. :D

WTG AD...I'm thrilled for ya. :)

AD is awesome. My 9 year old was AD on the PS3 as I watched the game on TV. The two TV's are in the living room so I got to watch both. BTW, PS3 AD did not get as many yards.

He has several gears higher than most players' high gear. And looks like he's being coached to lower his shoulders at the point of impact. Those kids with upright running styles just can't cut it in the NFL.

If we haven't done this already we should.

How much do you think it helped that when Jackson went out the other team had to worry that Minnesota might complete a pass and it opened the run up?
It changed the entire game when Jackson went out. The threat of the forward pass can open up a lot of holes for the running game. With Jackson, there's no threat.

And here's my favorite funny from that:

We've seen magnificent running backs in this town, the best to play the game. Cedric Benson certifiably is not worthy of the tradition, which makes life difficult when you've wasted a high draft pick and about $20 million on a bust while the Minnesota Vikings are showcasing the next power-and-speed, bash-and-dash, Nintendo-game force.

I bleed Crimson. But it seems like this 'noob' has unfortunately joined a board that has a few contributors that have the rationalization of a spoiled four year old. I would hope for better from so called Sooner fans. If you actually read my post, you would see that I never accused AD of anything. I am sorry that some of you took it that way, but that is your problem, not mine. I am just as proud if not prouder of what AD accomplished today, but the difference between you and me is that I don't dream about sleeping with his jock strap under my pillow every night. There have been times when some posters have needlessly jumped on another poster, particularly someone new to the boards.

I had this voice in the back of my mind that was telling me to pray that playing for the Vikings would not make AD look like a bust. Now that same voice is saying that I should pray he doesn't get hurt, because if he keeps this up, he will hold every record and could campaign for the G.O.A.T. Since I was in the stands for every snap he ever took on Owen Field, plus the Fiesta Bowl, I would support him all the way. He is my favorite player of all time from OU.

I would imagine the pro resources, practicing against professionals every day, and unlimited time to practice using the pro resources and pro competition has something to do with it.

And you can say injuries dont have anything to do with it, but I remember a certain healthy freshman completely dominating college football.
