Who is this John Russel? I remember a Jack Russel in my Topps/Donruss/Fleer sets. ;>

John was a catcher out of Norman HS. I believe he graduated from Norman in 1977 where he went on to play for Enos Semore and te Oklahoma Sooners.

I can still remember seeing John hit HR's into the South end zone bleachers before L. Dale Mitchell Park was created. John had incredible power at the plate.

I can't remember all the pro teams John played for but I remember him in a Philadephia Phillies uniform. I think he played for more than one pro team.

It's ashame that the Pirates can't afford to get John better talent to manage though.
