Was it here? I heard Bob Davie say it during a football broadcast and Jim Ross used it in his OUInsider column. Corby, one of the afternoon guys on Dallas' 1310 AM, thinks he invented it.

I've heard it ever since he went to Kansas.

because "The Team Mark Mangino Ate" was politically incorrect.

I think it's a Rece Davis thing. I'm pretty sure he started it, he does a lot of the "fighting [insert coach name here]'s", especially if the school is either small or known for bad football.

I started it along with the now popular use of the word "discombobulated"

please. any team that is easy to make fun of AND has a funny coach is FAIR GAME.

Ole Miss is the Oregerons. Occasionally Oregon is Oregeron, but all you have to do to differentiate the two is saw "Yeaw, yeaw yeaw" a few times.

Mississippi State is the Crooms. They are a pathetic team... until this year, when they might actually make a bowl game! One win till eligibility...

I've heard both "Fightin' Manginos" and "Fightin' Mangina's" for Kansas. Like the Crooms, they are usually pathetic, and Mangino is a funny coach. Mangino is also a funny name :D:D:D

I invented it shortly after I finished inventing the interwebs and income tax. Sorry about the tax thing. It seemed a good idea at the time.

Paul "Bear" Bryant invented "Fightin Manginos" prior to his 378th national title.

And, I will now reveal now, for the first time in public, I was the first person in recorded history to throw a pair of sneakers, tied together, over power lines.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.

It's been used for quite a while, now... they referred to OUr offense as the fighting Manginos during both the aTm game in 2000 and the MNC game I have on DVD.

About as brilliant as "Stoops Troops." It gets a big 'meh' from me.

Yeah, he also calls Cal the "Fighting Tedfords."
