I hold in my hand, a mineral deed to a 1/8 undivided interest in the subsurface rights to 40 acres in Okfuskee Co. I have some old draughts, made out to my now deceased granny, from the 70's oil boom which are for $135.00 per quarter back then (presumably based on $40 bbl.)

I presume after the bust, the leasee stopped producing.

My granny deeded it to me in 1985.

Now, with earl at approaching $100 bbl, methinks this might be worth looking into.

How can I (quickly) find out if there is a leasee producing on the site today?

PM sent. The Corporation Commission governs the Gas and Oil Industry in OK. They are very friendly and helpful with questions like these.

If you are a Texan and have wuestions like Homey's you should contact the Texas Railroad Commission as they govern the business in TX. I assume that they are a bunch of pricks. ;)

FYI, I saw a rig count last week. There are 1700 some odd rigs working in the US. 300 are drilling for oil, 1400 for gas.
