I believe that was my freshman year of high school. I had pretty much decided I was going to attend OU a year earlier. Even though I'm a huge Bama fan, I started supporting the Sooners in 1996 because I knew where I was going. I remember that game quite well. Cold and wet, and scoring near the very end to avoid the shutout (at least I'm pretty sure that's the way it happened). I never could have imagined that the program would turn around so quick between that time and my years at OU. I still wore my DeMond jersey proudly though.

I remember 29-0 the next year just as vividly. They used to whip us pretty good.

KSU in Norman, Nebraska in Norman, Pokes in Norman, aTm in Norman. Most certainly not the Sooner finest hour. However, we didn't have to wait long to give Arcee a big ole s**tburger in the return in '99. That's in my top 10 of Sooner favorite games. That fake punt right up the gut and Leach calling the same play over and over for big gains had Arcee so befuddled, he didn't know whether to s*&t or go blind.

My first year was '98. I didn't know there was a football team.

As bad as that game was, 77-0 made up for it.

I remember a 44-14 beat down to what i'm pretty sure was a top 10 A&M team in '93

Second game of my freshman year as I recall

they were #5 when they came in, they ended up #9 on that season

I remeber last year barely getting out alive. This year ought to be better in Norman.

Nope, it was '93. Tulsa gave us a better game the next week.

I really don't understand why you guys paid any attention to football in the '90's. There was nothing of any interest during that decade.

Final game i went to as a student prior to graduation. All my friends left early (blowout, it was cold, nighttime) but I stuck it out to the very end (not sure why). Made those 51-6 and 77-0 triumphs very sweet.

My freshman year at OU, there was some prime seating at that game and one of the coldest games in Norman that I can remember. By the end of the game, there couldn't have been more than 20k in the stands. Pretty low point for Sooner football. However, I couldn't have been a student a better time!

Nope, it was '93. We dominated A&M that game. They were supposed to be good but I suspect A&M was was just a benefactor of a very weak SWC in the early '90s.

After that drubbing, I expected us to do that same in '94. It didn't turn out that way and it was definitely the end for Gibbs.

We were pretty good in the early 1990's ... just not the elite team we dreamed of.

A week after the 44-14 game we played Missouri ... beat then 73-0 ... and, no, we didn't run it up. We got you all back in 1994 at Kyle ... although no one saw it becasue of our TV ban.

My kids and I were part of the 20,000 that stuck it out. My theory was if the team is out there playing, we will keep supporting. The night before we attended a playoff game with Norman which they won in the snow! Thanks to those louzy years, we were able to get five season tickets after we moved to Norman in Jan 97 which we still have.

77-0 was sweet, but the 51-6 game seemed so much better, atm was supposed to be somewhat decent and they could not have looked more clueless than they did in 99. 03 was just a beatdown.

The stadium was half-empty at halftime in the '97 game.

I think most people that didn't go get sloppy at OConnel's went to the basketball bash.

Terrible game on the field and in the stands....maybe the worst of the latter '90s. That's a pretty big claim considering how many awful games there were then but it has to be in the top 2 or 3.

Maybe it was because I was there, but the '99 51-6 game was a lot more fun to watch than the '03 game.

Different level of intensity with our team then too.

Ten Years After. Do you remember the pain of the 1997 season?

I remember Rah Cee standing at midfield chewing out John Blake over some coachspeak faux pas that our verbally challenged coach had slipped at that weeks press conference...but it ****ed me off because here it is in our stadium and Blake is taking it like he took everything else those SOB's threw at us...when I think of that and the year that Nebraska during warm ups encroached and pushed our team warming up clear back to our 30 yard line during pre game stretch...Freaking Blake gave up yards before the GD game was played!

I'm very sensitive to small issues...and it makes me appreciate Stoops every day. You think Bobby would take anyone chewing on him in his own house?

I didn't fuc&ing think so!

Sat through the whole goddamned miserable cold thing.

I can attest to that. I think I'm still thawing out from that one.

51-6, 31-10, and 77-0 (plus the wins at Kyle over that same period more than made up for it.)

I lost a fingertip at that game. Darn thing just fell right off about halfway into the 3rd quarter.
I also remember being ****ed off because it was senior day for Stephen Alexander ( a great player Blake was luck to have, but never used) and they only threw one pass to him when there was only three minutes or so left in the game.
..this thread has got me hacked off about Blake again. That dude is a poison where ever he goes.

Damn you John Blake....Damn you straight to HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
