In an interview with CBSSports.com, Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he was named the starting RB for Week 8 against the Eagles. Peterson said coach Brad Childress "gave me the nod Wednesday." The rookie, who leads the NFL with 670 yards rushing, said "I'll be the starter from now on."
(Updated 10/26/2007). Childress must have gotten tired of the hate mail from his fans.

Finally. The pressure must have gotten to Childress.

He's the only weapon they have. The QB sucks big time. Stay healthy AD!

Childress needs to be fired today!. They have no clue what they are doing. They are putting AD in positions other than the one he is best at. He is not a Kick returner, even Stoops knows that. They are trying to throw him ball, which is great, but he needs to be running from scrimmage. Several series he was not in. What more of a clue do you need than several long runs from scrimmage? I'm tired of watching AD not being used the way he should. I have never seen a more inept coaching staff than the ones Minnesota is firing out there today. By the way, I am an Eagle fan.

didn't childress say the 2nd string rb would be the kick returner? Wish I got today's game on tv here....or maybe I don't.

The game is not out of hand, but Childress is trying to run the Patriot offense with the Browns talent. The strength of the team is the running game. I can't understand why he has not yet realized it. They have a great running O line yet they are trying to do things that they can't do. The O coaching staff is terrible. I think I am going to change the channel to the Patriot game.

The thing i can't figure out about Childress is it's automatic that AD comes out of the game on 3rd down, almost even if it's a short 3rd down; i guess he doesn't know how to run the Draw to AD or even a screen pass

I don't know what childres reminds me more of: a manager at Wendy's or a no-name mid-level manager

If only he would have been drafted by Green Bay! I'm thinking that Favre with an AD threat would be a serious Super Bowl contender.

Congrats to AD make those teams pay for not wanting you!!! I say this will make the scouts second guess themselves. He is only going to get better.

AD stills leads the NFL in rushing by 31 yards with 670 total. Here's his weekly highlight reel....unfortunately it's only one play:

Vikes' woeful offense just might cost AD the rookie of the year title, at least according to this guy: (http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=296835)
9. Peterson parade loses steam

Though FOX's Brian Baldinger declared early in Sunday's Eagles-Vikings game that Adrian Peterson was the best running back in the league, saying that "it's not even close" between him and the rest of the field, Peterson looked like anything but Sunday. It also might no longer be a lock that he'll be named the top offensive rookie, given the steady emergence of Bills quarterback Trent Edwards.

In Peterson's first start in front of a healthy Chester Taylor, Peterson averaged only 3.5 yards per carry on 20 attempts and didn't score. Plus, Peterson's ill-advised attempt to field a kickoff that was bounding toward the sideline and the end zone gave the Vikings the ball inside their 1-yard line to start the second half.

Meanwhile, the purple passing game continues to be pathetic and the team's 2-5 record likely is just a pit stop on a path to 4-12 -- if they can beat the Raiders and 49ers. If not, the '07 Vikings could end up with a record worse than the Les Steckel debacle of 1984.

Childress must have gotten tired of the hate mail from his fans.

Finally, Childress tosses his "One Heartbeat" manuscript into the fireplace.
