Watching the BC/VT game...and I see a quick shot of the placekicker on the sidelines warming up. All the kickers these days have some little plastic apparatus that holds the ball in place...no need for a person to hold the ball.
I was a kicker back in my football days (mid 70s to mid 80s)...and I practiced all the time in the front yard...kicking off that 2" tee. I came up with a way to hold the ball in place...using a wire coat-hanger bent into a "L" shape...poked into the ground..then used that thicker cardboard tube part as a "kickstand' to give thing rigidity. Worked great.
If I had only knew.
Course I was a dumb 13 year old at the time.
And it was a crappy prototype.
