View Full Version : I'm really starting to look forward to the inevitable wave of 90's nostalgia

While going to lunch today, I caught some of the 90's at Noon on a local radio station. This made me realize I am going to enjoy 90's nostalgia way more than I ever did 80's nostalgia. Let's face it, the 90's were a fun decade, and it would give people an excuse to put in the Everclear CD's crank Santa Monica. I hope the wave gets here soon, because I'm tired of people thinking 80's theme parties are a good idea, and it would give entertainment folks something different to recycle.

Whitney Houston can be construed as 80's as well though. Art Alexakis on the other hand, solidly 90's.

nostalgia is the most portable, efficient demographic there is.

dividing cultural "moments" into decades is totally arbitrary, anyway. except when the Clear Channels of the world sell it back to you as an objectified way of thinking/remembering/cultivating consumer habits.

Yeah, but every decade has their parts they wanna forget. The Carpenters anyone? Captain and Taneille? Makes me want to rip my ears off. There are some bad 80s bands too. Sad thing is I kinda liked Jon Secada. The other two, not so much.

Besides, the 90s gave us Garbage, No Doubt (when they were good), Nirvana, Sheryl Crow, Oasis, Weezer, etc. The good outweigh the bad.

Oh, no question about it. My CD collection (back when I used to listen to CDs) is pretty much all 90's. My favorite music was for the most part recorded in the first half of the decade (Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Pantera, etc).

But...those specials tend to focus on teh succ.

NHL '94 was the sh*t! That is the reason I got the Sega Genesis. THere is one move that will always fool the goalie. You have to skate on one side of the rink and move across the front of the goalie while holding the shoot button down (don't release it) and then when the goalie dives thinking the puck has been shot, release the button. Gaurenteed to score everytime. There were games that were 111-5. F***ing rocked!

Also, 1990-1996 > 1997-1999 music wise.

SoonerAtKU
10/26/2007, 03:28 PM
You're not wrong, but you don't even have to shoot to score in 94-96. If you are using a right-handed player, you can hold the puck and run into the corner of the goal. At the right angle, the puck is dislodged and you score every time. Goalie or no goalie. This caused more than one fistfight between roommates.

Oh, and if we're calling players/teams, I'll take the Bruins with Neely, Oates, and Bourque over any team you'd like.

OJ was innocent, Britney was the good one, no one from N'SYNC was ghey, power chords were all it took to make a (punk) hit, rap music was considered "ground-breaking," Tupac was still alive (to some, even after 1996), Michael Jackson was just misunderstood, OU was "dead legend"...
