This weekend, my wife and I went over to the new Bass Pro Shop in Garland. It's on the shoreline of Lake Ray Hubbard.

So, we're noodling around the boats and such, and a saleman approaches us. It's a pretty husky dude. No biggie. There's a lot of pretty husky people in the DFW area.

Anyway, we start talking boats. But, since I wasn't going to buy yesterday, I asked him for his card. So, he gives it to me, and the name on it is 'Keith Gary.'

So, I say, "Keith Gary...are you the football player Keith Gary that played for the Sooners and Steelers?"

"Yeah, that's me," he said.

Anyway, the long and short of it is, he recently moved to DFW from Cali, works for the City of Dallas and selling Tracker Boats. He and his family live in Rowlett. Really nice guy...even after I spared him to death with inane 1979 and 1980 Orange Bowl talk.

So, if you're in the market for a boat and want to meet a Sooner legend - he was the 1979 Big 8 Newcomer of the Year and a first round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played for six years - head over to the Bass Pro Shop in Garland and give a good former Sooner some business.

You shoud've asked him how it worked out playing in the CFL for two years instead of signing with the Steelers.

Go Alouettes!

He didn't want to talk about Montreal...besides, it the conversation probably would have degenrated into the amount of his salary he forked over to the Canadian government with their absurdly high tax rates.

He and David Overstreet got crappy advice from their agents on the CFL thing. Still, he played much longer with the Steelers than he did with Montreal.

What do you mean? Isn't Canada the utopia of the world with great standard of living, and a fantastic medical and retirement system?

The reason he stayed with the Steelers so long is easy...

Anyone that can sport a nice pwornstache is a shoe in for the Steelers.
