Arizona State, Boston College and Ohio State are all ranked higher than OU, none of which have even played or even beaten a ranked opponent...

So we know that things can change quickly with these teams when they actually play a ranked opponent, well besides Ohio State who plays some pretty weakly ranked opponents...One of which lost to a 1-AA opponent on their home field....

osu will be challenged on saturday night. happy valley will be a very unfriendly place to be. 110K nutcases with an entire day of tailgating to "warm up".

my poor mom will be working the hospital saturday night. it's about 400 yards from the stadium. night games are notorious for stomach pumpings.

Apparently a road loss to an unranked foe is a blow wins over UT,MU cannot overcome.I guess you are better off to play patsies and go undefeated then to win big games and suffer an upset.

That definitely shows how the Human Polls and influence feel about the Top 5 teams...Remember, OU was favored by 10.5 against a Top 15 opponent...OU will be favored by at least a TD over the rest of our schedule...

This shows to me that Vegas and the Human Polls do feel that we should be in the Top 3....

Indeed. Why do teams like TCU, Boise State, and (to a lesser extent) West Virginia always end up fairly high in the preseason polls? Not because pollsters think they are world-beaters, but because they think they have a good chance of going undefeated based on schedule. It's not the computers that are the problem with the BCS....

The main problem with the BCS is that people get too wrapped up in what it says "now" instead of what it says at the end. For all the wailing and gnashing of teeth inspired by BCS standings in October, there is relatively little (some, sure, but not a lot) based on what it says in December.

The BSC rankings are tied for 4,5 and 6 with a score of .7600 . Anyone know what the tie-break formula is? It seems to me OU should be listed as #4 with AzSt and Oregon.

i hadn't noticed that... it appears to be the computer avg

i guess that our lackluster win against ISU really is the difference between #4 and #6, aren't really even that close to LSU really

the good news is that our future opponents are going to help us, other than Baylor they are all likely bowl bound

Not to split hairs, but Purdue WAS ranked (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex?seasonYear=2007&weekNumber=6&seasonType=2) for one week only at #23 before Tosu beat them.

OSU will lose in Happy Valley, mark it down. OSU always struggles at Penn St. It is a trap.

3. LSU .9114

4. Arizona State .7629

5. Oregon .7623

6. Oklahoma .7551

Difference between 3- 6 is .1563, between 4-6 is .0078. We are number 3 right now.

We need USC and TOSU or BC to lose to play Les for the cHAMPIONSHIP!

If TOSU wins out and others besides LSU lose one more - USC, oREGON, BC, AZ state, we will be on the outside looking in. Unless Kansas Miracles some victories and gets up to 5-7 ranking when we play them in San Antonio.

I still would bet on them. Mark my words, bet the bond set in Eufaula for the greatest runner of the wishbone - OU wins another NC.

Dont worry, everything will even itself out, they all play ranked opponents this weekend.

It should be a fun weekend of football.

I should have noticed Yahoo rounded off the numbers. Sorry about that. I'll find a different source for my information in the future.

OU's played so many opponents that were ranked high until their "OU hangover" post-huge loss. Seneca Wallace and Iowa State immediately come to mind

Actually, it is more likely that losing to crappy teams is more difficult to overcome than not losing to crappy teams.

I'd call them inconsistent to be honest, they go as Cody Hawkins goes. Tis the life of a team with a freshman QB.
