I think it's smart. Too many rookie qb s have been overused in their first year and have gotten beat up or burned out too soon. AD is prolly still not all the way back from the collarbone. Calcium comes back stronger, but it takes time. Childress is going with the smart play here. And it's working as far as production from the running game is concerned.

I work with a dude that is in a fantasy league where they did an autodraft - he got Peyton and Brady, so he traded Brady. Not a good trade in retrospect.

I agree. A 16 week regular season can wear out anyone. Having two serviceable running backs in the NFL is a must. Plus AD is a rookie and still has a ton of learning even though he has been better than advertised so far.

Speaking of fantasy leagues, we did a live draft.

I picked last in the first round and first in the second round. So I took Bush and AD with my back-to-back picks.

After I took AD, somebody else said that pick was a stretch. :)

They went with Taylor on the 3rd and 8 from the EZ after Peterson saved Jackson's tail on that shot downfield.

Yeah, the collarbone must still be hurting or otherwise he would be running through people every time he carries the ball; oh wait, he is running through people every time.

I honestly don't have a problem with that, but the hand off to the fullback on second down was pretty much a give up down

Guys remember this Vikes coach is the same idiot who gave Peterson the ball a whopping 2 times in the 2nd half of the Green Bay game when he had rushed 8 carries for 105 yards in the first half. The halftime score was only 10-6 too so its not like they had to abandon the running game due to being blown out. I'd bet money that if Peterson got more carries in the 2nd half they beat GB.

Childress already cost his team at least one game by refusing to use Peterson properly.

He's not exactly a candidate for coach of the year.

Bad challenge on the fumble for Dallas.

But they shouldn't have had to burn a challenge on this last play. If the ref would have pulled his head outta his a**, he'd plainly see Ferguson bobbled it.

This is painful to watch... Are there worse starting quarterbacks in the NFL?

If the biggest playmaker for the Vikings is Peterson, why does he spend so much time on the sidelines. I understand that it's a good idea to rotate backs, and I agree with that. But geez, they've gotta figure something out. Personally, I'd switch out QBs.

probably, but cut the man some slack; he can't do it all, especially when he spends over half the game standing on the sideline

Newbomb Turk
10/21/2007, 06:10 PM

he probably isn't. I think the vikings just hope that Jackson is the future so they are sticking with him.

WxGuy1
10/21/2007, 06:16 PM
So they get great field position, then leave it to their terrible QB to pass 3 times. Why wasn't Peterson out there? He's by far the best player on the team, yet he doesn't see the ball last drive? Are you kidding me? I feel bad for Peterson up there now... I'd give the boot to Childress (HC) and find a new QB. The defense is actually keeping the Vikings in the game, but the playcalling on offense is horrendous.

sooner518
10/21/2007, 06:19 PM
Jackson has absolutely no pocket presence and holds onto the ball forever. Hes getting decent protection but he just holds it for 5 minutes and then decides to run with it.

From what i have seen of the Vikings this season, Brad Childress needs to be loaded on the Monday morning train straight out of Minny; there is no reason on Earth not to give AD the ball 20x a game, yet i think there has only been 1 game when he's hit 20; he's averaging 6 yards a carry, yet he still splits time with Taylor and Childress would rather have Tarvaris Jackson try a pass on 3rd and 3 instead of giving the ball to the guy that averages 6 yards per carry; did AD even get on the field for half the offensive plays today?

**** it wouldn't matter if he could see them or not, he would still overthrow them by 20 feet; i know he's young, but i've seen nothing from him this season that would make me think he has any potential to be a starter in the NFL

That crappy QB did toss one right to AD only to see it bounce off his hands.

tommieharris91
10/21/2007, 09:43 PM
From that board

As PurpleHaze metioned in another thread, we could start AD at QB. Start a backfield of AD, Chester, Richardson, and MeMo. 5 OL and 2 TE sets. Run every play. I mean, 6-19 for 59 yards, what is the point of even bothering. Is this legal?

AD had 2 rushes last week that were each longer than the total passing output today! Why even bother with the pretense of throwing!

We could even put Troy Williamson in the backfield every now and then. He's fast, and by simply handing him the ball we avoid the issue of his inability to catch.

Sometimes I think the Bears should do this with Devin Hester. Heck, if AD was still here, we'd do some of that wild hog stuff with him.

He made maybe 2 good throws all day; this was not one of them because the ball was high and behind him; should AD have caught it? I would say yes, but the throw still was horrible

If I'm Jerry Jones, I trade T.O., Marion Barber, and their first rounder next year and a second rounder in 2009 for Peterson. Then use the Browns first rounder to draft Jackson or Kelly or Sweed.

bluedogok
10/22/2007, 09:27 PM
Do you really think that anyone involved with the Vikings is going to so another trade with the Cowboys? They wouldn't take TO, Barber yes, but not TO.

I wouldn't draft Swede very high, he reminds me of a Cedric Benson at receiver, great against the turds but comes up small in big games.
