Not even close to the 'basically alike'.

There's an old HDTV thread you might want to peruse.

agree - not even close.

mama - what do you want. A flat panel (the skinny display you can mount on a wall)? How big of a TV you talking about? What will you be watching? Bright room?

Oh, I remember that thread now. I think it was a sticky for a while. That information will come in handy for me. Thank you pulling it up. :)

answer these three questions.

Do you want to be able to hang it on a wall?

About what size (high and low) do you want?

What is your budget (high and low)?

This will narrow it down to a few models then we can go from there.

I need one, about 25 inches wide, that we can hang on the wall and swivel. I also need one to put in the armoire I'm getting thats about 32 inches. I want to be able to record things on the smaller one and and my budget is medium. :)

Oh, and my son said I should get a DVD or DVR thing that is named "Blue" something. I forgot exactly what he called it, but I don't automatically take his advice on anything but finance issues, even though he thinks he knows so much about wine and electronics, without checking it out because he thinks his chili is really good and it is not. :P

He might be referring to Blu-ray, a higher definition DVD format. It really isn't worth it unless you have a higher definition television (HD and 40+ inches), though. I've seen a difference of incredibly large HDTV's.

They are quite expensive - the cheapest I've seen is the Playstation 3 at $500-$600.

That is a good one but if you can go a little more the KDS50A3000 for around
1599.00 would be your best bet.

For the 25" one look at the Toshiba 23HLV87 for around 625.00 AND BUY A SANUS VM3b wall mount about 125.00. For the larger one look at the Toshiba 32hl67 about 647.00 great tv's. Hope that helps. and Badger is correct on the blu ray

It really isn't about the few extra 100 bucks, but more about a 46 inch model being about as big as I can go.

What is the difference between the KDF and KDS?

KDF = 1366x768 resolution 1 million plus pixels
KDS= 1920x180 resolution 2 million plus pixels

my mistake, I was thinking the 2000. I will need to check with sony to see how they are going to get 1080p out of an LCD chip. NOrmally one would have to incorporate silicon to get that resolution.
