I liked how he told the Yankees to stuff it after they low-balled him. He was great at Atlanta, and I respect him for the work he did with the Braves.

I hope Steiny's sons reap what they are sowing....

Is a manager in baseball the same thing as a coach?I think you wandered into this thread by mistake. You want the Tampax discussion elsewhere on the SO.

I'm a huge Mattingly fan but if he's hired as the next Yankee manager, I have a bad feeling that he'll be in a no win situation.

Quite frankly, if the Yankees quit signing over the hill free agent who are all mostly offensive players and start going after some young, solid pitchers, Torre would probably still be managing them.

If memory serves me correctly Steinbrenner signed Clemens who has been finished for a few years now, not Torre. Don't even get me started on Randy Johnson.

Actually with Joba, Hughes, Karstens, and 1 other that i can't remember, the Yankees pitching has a chance to be pretty good over the next few seasons; the biggest question mark will be finding a closer to replace Mo

With the Dodgers now; Grady Little was getting 600K per year, Torre will be over 4 million.
