It's sad that people across the country are pumped about watching South Florida and Rutgers. Something's wrong with the landscape of today's college football. I was too young to remember them, but I wish I could've enjoyed the days of unlimited scholarships, back when the top 25 looked the same every year and making a bowl appearance was considered a monumental accomplishment.

I'm rooting for Rutgers, but I can't believe I'm actually going to watch this game. How is it that South Florida has an influence on whether or not OU goes to the title game? Something's wrong.

I agree...If OU had nothing to gain from this game, I would be pulling for South Florida like a bandwagon fan...They are an incredible story...Their first year of recruits was in 1995-1996..They were all redshirted..That cracks me up, but it is amazing where they have come from...

USF reminds me of the upstart programs like Miami and FSU back in the 80's. They hadn't really done much, and due to good coaching and recruiting arrived and became college football powerhouses.

I think I am just going to sit back and enjoy watching a football game without worrying myself about the implications for OUr team. Whether they [USF] win or lose, we still carry our fate in our own hands at the moment.

Despite the fact that this is the "Who are these guys" bowl, it has actually been a pretty good game so far. I think Rutgers made a mistake on the coin toss at the beginning of the game. They won the toss, but chose to receive the ball rather than deferring to the second half. BIG MISTAKE! USF will get the ball to start the 3rd quarter and they're already up on Rutgers. If they score on their opening drive of the second half to go up by 11, it might be just enough of a cushion-lead that USF really opens up the offense and goes to town on Rutgers. Hopefully, Rutgers can dig deep and keep that from happening.
