View Full Version : Tide Pens
Being the klutz that I am, I have kept a Tide To Go Pen in my desk for about the last year. The little things come in quite handy when you spill coffee, Diet Coke, etc. on you. This morning, I had a coffee mishap and dug around for my Tide Pen. I started applying the magic liquid to my shirt and soon noticed the smell of fresh puke. The smell was so bad that I almost had to hightail it to the trashcan.
Now, it's been a while since I applied the stuff, and I still smell like barf. I will probably smell this way all day.
So, apparently the little devices go rancid after a while.

You sure you didn't just spill a cup of vomit on you somewhere?

That is naaaaaaaaaaaaaaasty.
Thanks for sharing so the rest of us can avoid this.
Does it have a "best if used by date" on it?

No, I didn't.
But if you would have asked me that last weekend, my answer may have been different. ;)

It doesn't have a date on the pen. Maybe it had a date on the package, but of course I threw that away when I bought it.

I have had a couple other people tell me that their Tide to Go pens started smelling like puke after about 6 months. That's why I have never purchased one. Have you tried Shout Wipes? They have seemed to work pretty well for me and no terrible smell.
I should get some Shout Wipes. I would borrow some from my boss, but someone stole all of them. ;)

My wife doesn't use the Tide Pens as she to says it smells like barf. I smell it occasionally about a third of the time. So I don't know if the stuff goes bad or it normally smells like that and I don't notice it.
