Some of you science brainiacs help me out here.

I'm trying to figure out why I can only see this girl spinning clockwise and later I can only see her spinning counter-clockwise. But, only if I look away and then look back.

Okay, the link 'bout left and right braininess:

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,22535838-5012895,00.html

Which direction is she spinning?

Guess I'm weird. I can only see clockwise.

Wonder if my being legally blind in one eye messes up my perception? It sure does my parallel parking...
:P

Clockwise. I hope that means I'm a serial killer.

Edit: nice boobies.

Don't know about the first, but probably on the second...

OK, if you watch her feet, you can force yourself to switch back and forth between. Cool.

I totally can't see it any other way but clockwise.

That's how I got it to switch directions too.

Somebody saw this on mental floss . .. :)

Look at the foot that she not standing on. When it's at 6:00 switch your mind's eye real quick and pretend it's at 12:00 and going the other way.

Freaky.

Doesn't work for me.

Weird, because most people I know would categorize me as a left-brainer.

Actually, I find it easier to look at the foot she's standing on. If you think of it graphically, it's just a black blob extending to the right and then the left. I find it pretty easy now to switch when looking at it that way.

Totally.

I mean, I go up to women in a bar and they're always like "Go home with him? Hells yeah, that's a no-brainer!"

I got nothin'.

yeah, I keep trying to make it switch and it won't. Which is really ****ing me off because stuff like this usually switches very easily for me.

If I look directly at it, she turns clockwise. If I can only see it out of the corner of my eye, she's going counter-clock. Weird.

I tried staring at it, I tried looking away and looking back, I tried your guys' suggestions and I could only see her spinning counter clockwise. I'm way more of a right brain person, though. When I was reading the article on the link I saw her spinning clockwise for about 5 seconds but that was it.

Tried it several times...clockwise everytime.

Here's what I see, if the left arm is wide she is turning counter clock-wise and if I see her right arm wide, then she is turning clock-wise.

I can see some camel toe for, like, 2 npt (nanoseconds per turnaround).

If I blink fast enough for the strobe effect to get her going the other way, then open stop blinking she will still be going that way. If that made any sense.

Ike

clockwise. I don't think it can be any other way.

teh bewbs go from being on the right, to facing me, to being on the left. can only be clockwise.

Wow, that is WEIRD because the other day when I was trying to make her switch to counter-clockwise I couldn't do it. NOW it switches right in the middle of everything while I'm just looking at it. If it does NOT switch I can scroll to the other picture and it's going the other way....strange.

She goes both ways. Kinda like Howzit.

I could only see it clockwise, no matter what I did. Then, I turned my laptop upside down and slowly turned it back and could see her going counter clockwise, but it is hard for me to keep her that way. She usually goes back clockwise as soon as she hits the middle.

Freaky.

My six year old daughter says she was going counter clockwise, when I told her I saw her going the other way, she looked and said she did too...then wait...no the other way...no wait, now the other way. She sees it both ways.

And no, she did not actually say "counter clock wise", she showed me by twirling her finger which way she saw it.

Still freaky.

I can only see it clockwise. And it's totally because of the angles of the limbs. Going clockwise it's constructed properly as though the person is actually spining like a cancer and the limbs are trailing slightly behind the rotation of the body. If it were to be going counterclockwise the limbs would actually be ahead of the rotation of the body.

So basically, I can't see it going counterclockwise because the physics implied by the angles of the limbs don't work if the rotation is counterclockwise. The physics and body mechanics ONLY work out if the rotation is clockwise.

It's also a matter of viewpoint. If you were standing in front of a dancer who was spinning like that, the extended foot would appear lower on the near side of her body, and higher on the far side. Again, that implies clockwise rotation.

so the funny thing is, my wife sees only counter clockwise. and the link says that shes s'posed to be left brained and I'm sposed to be right brained....

yet she's the artist, and I'm the scientist...which by the descriptions there, are completely what we shouldn't be.

Ok, that worked for me. i turned my head and caught it out of the corner of my eye and it started going counter clockwise. As i turn my head for straight on shot it stayed counter clockwise until i blinked than back to clockwise.

weird
