View Full Version : Pets in Weddings

So I am an usher in wedding this weekend. In addition to wearing a brown and pink tux, the ushers have to take care of the couples three yippy dogs during the ceremony, because the bride insists that they be a part of the wedding. Is pets in weddings a common thing that I have no awareness of, or is the couple just different.

I wanted my lab to be the ring bearer, but the wife was not ammused

You should ask sicem to help, this sounds right up his alley.

I've heard of it, but I think it's really dumb. I wonder how the bride would feel if the damn dog dropped a load on her dress's train or yipped throughout the entire ceremony.

Of course I am pretty jaded by the whole wedding day festivities crap...just go to Vegas and get hitched in five minutes.

Borwn and pink? Do these people have no taste? Wait, have I answered that? Dogs have no place in the ceremony - IMO. Oh yeah, agree with eloping...

That should be his first warning signal.

Hell they have already been shacked up for 3.5 years. He's tolerated it for awhile now, and she support him financially so I doubt they get divorced until he finishes grad school.

I know a guy that met his wife while running labs in some field trials. The labs brought them together kind of thing, so the labs were part of the wedding party. 'course, unlike M's example, these are very well trained dogs.

These dogs aren't. I kind of want to send them to play in the street, so I don't have to deal with them.

just don't tie them to the happy couple's bumper.

I don't think that yappy untrained dogs have any place at a wedding. I also think it is very rude for them to expect their wedding party to take care of the dogs during the ceremony. If the pink and brown tux weren't enough to make you bail on them when they told you about your pet sitting responsibilities you should have ran far far away.

Anyone who makes it a point to have yappers at their wedding deserves to get dog toys as wedding gifts IMO.

Give the Bride a Daily News Bone in a nice Sax 5th Ave box.

You mean this weekend? During football season? And you agreed to it? That is the biggest problem I see, much bigger than the dogs and the ugly tux.

Have you seen Nebraska play this year. Not watching the game will be a net benefit for me. Also, I agreed to do it while I was fairly intoxicated.

Both are bad ideas. Having dogs in the wedding and you, even going to the wedding.

4 free kegs makes it less of a bad idea. Did I mention that half the wedding party has to drive to the reception because they decided to get a limo only big enough for half of the wedding party. While I don't have an issue with driving myself it just seems dumb to only do it for some of the people in the wedding.

I don't believe so. I'm not good with the breeds of small dogs. All three are smaller than a decent sized house cat.

..or get them something nice for the kitchen.

Feed them ex-lax about 1 hour prior to the wedding.

Here are some photos of some poms. They are absolutely adorable, but the ones I have met do that ongoing yappy barking thing. :D

I know at least one of the other ushers would be up for organizing a mock dog fight out front of the building. I think this may have some possibilities.

At least ushers can drink during the wedding, and don't have stand around looking bored the whole time.
