View Full Version : changing the motors in washer/dryer

As I've posted before, we have a leaky basement. Ever since the big flood, we've had problems with the washer and dryer. The wife had someone come out and look at then and he quoted $500 to change 2 motors in the washer and 1 in the dryer. I figure the 2 in the washer are for the drum and the agitator and the 1 in the dryer is for the drum.

I'm a pretty handy guy. Is this something I should tackle myself?

Worse case, it'll already be taken apart for the repair man.

The one on the dryer should be fairly easy. I've done that one and
it wasn't bad at all. On the other hand, the one on the washer....

Just make sure you use the 7/16 sprinkly wrench along with the 1/2" gangly socket. YWIA

Exactly...The cost on those motors is not a whole lot less than the 500 they are asking

I would just buy a brand new set which will include a warranty :D
