Sweed lost for year
By Suzanne Halliburton | Monday, October 8, 2007, 05:00 PM

Texas receiver Limas Sweed will undergo season-ending surgery to tighten ligaments in his left wrist.

Sweed sprained his wrist in preseason drills. He aggravated it late against Oklahoma, which was the reason he was not on the field for the final two offensive series in the 28-21 loss to the Sooners.

“I’ve aggravated it a couple of times and again last week and have probably been in more pain than I let anybody know,” Sweed said. “I spent most of the afternoon on Monday with the doctors and training staff and they said that I should go ahead and have surgery to get it taken care of, so I’m going to take their advice.

“I’m disappointed I won’t be out there playing but I’ll be around cheering on the guys and doing everything I can to help the team. I appreciate all of the support I’ve had from the coaches, doctors, trainers and all of my teammates and look forward to getting myself healthy, hopefully, for a future in the NFL.”

In addition, defensive end Aaron Lewis fractured his elbow against the Sooners and is out indefinitely. Fullback Luke Tiemann also will undergo wrist surgery, but is expected to miss only two games.

Too bad. Hopefully he'll recover quickly.

Good luck to him for sure.

However, if Texas had won, would he still be having this surgery? Or are the horns saying this season is over?

Is Sweed a junior? If so, i bet he's gone

he played in 2004, so he's a senior.

He's a senior. Bailing on the season to make sure he's good to go for his job interviews at the combine. Good for him.

well hell, if the kid is hurt that badly, i don't blame him; it's not like they have anything to play for anyway. :texan:

As much as I hate UT, I'm not going to bag on a kid that's about to have season-ending surgery. I hope he recovers well.

And we all owe Paperclip $1,200 for posting that information.

He reminds me a bunch of his "favorite" player who wore the number prior to him...TFRW

You know I would not wish that on anybody, even on a horn, I think Limas had a shot at the NFL, maybe still..good luck Limas...

I think he does, and that's why it's so smart to make the move he did and go ahead and have the surgery now. He's got the skills to go first day easily. I'd guess 3rd or 4th rounder.

Hey, my Rams could use a guy like him. I-Bruce isn't gonna be around much longer. We suck so bad anyway, it's a good time to load up on youngsters.

This just shows what sort of quality AD was made from. The sooners had nothing to play for last year and All Day still came back to help his team. glad to be a sooner!

Yeah, I don't like him because he's a horn but good luck to him. I am glad we beat them with him on the field though.

Does this mean that the national media may recognize Kelly as the Big 12's best receiver now (that was only half humor)!

Good luck to Sweed, but I'm very happy we beat him and his beloved whorens Sat.!!

I had wondered why he vanished from the field. Hopefully he'll either get drafted high up or get a medical redshirt and be able to continue the career he had coming.
