This guy is always right on the money.
Every year I've followed him, he's been exactly right.

We're #13 right now. Behind FIVE other 1 loss teams. Including USC (who lost to Stanford)

Looks like we'll need some help to make it to the big dance. :O

Too many games left, I am not even concerned about the BCS games at this point. You have to win out to even worry about it and there will be many possible losses for everyone involved to come.

First of all that isn't a bad list. It means we have 2 more games in the top 30 and one in the top 6 to bring us up. First things first we need to beat Mizzou.

I think the truth is USC has to lose another one, but the teams that are ahead of us will choke. If you think a 1 loss Va Tech team is getting in the BCS Championship game over us you are sorely mistaken, if I am wrong on that the BCS is finished mark my words.

#3 getting in over #2 that they can handle, #5 or #6 over #2? Nothing survives but cockroaches and twinkies.

Crucifax Autumn
10/7/2007, 09:50 PM
All this will correct itself as the computers gradually earn some love for us and most of the teams above us lose a game or 2. We just need to take care of business and watch our rankings rise as our SOS improves with Missouri and Colorado kicking some *** all over the north. And with KU looking way better than expected our North victims will look a bit better. I also think Texas will be turning a corner and winning out. We'll be sitting in great shape in about a month, IMO

We can't consider Mizzou a win until the game ends Saturday. Our secondary sux, and they LOVE to pass. They're team might be as good, if not better, than their ranking. Now I'm not like the guy earlier that said we wouldn't be favored in this game (we're a 10-pt favorite, BTW), but this Missouri team is definitely the best team we've faced so far this season.

It's not our secondary that sucks, but the linebacker play. Reynolds is consistently out of position in coverage, either a step or two late (his interception in the Tulsa game happened because he was late ... the guy was open, and if not for a bobbled catch, that would've been another long gain).

Aside from Lofton, our linebackers can't cover worth a flip. Tulsa, Colorado, and Texas all exploited it. Thankfully, they managed to make some adjustments against Texas.

Crucifax Autumn

Maybe we need to make sure Lofton has the TE...If there are 2 or 3 going out for the pass we need to blow 'em up at the line.

When the season first started I was not worried about any team except Texass. Then i started watching Tx and OU play and knew we were going to win..

Then my husband "who is a HUGE MIZZOU" fan starts telling me about Mizzou's offense etc..

After watching them play a few games... I must honestly say, this is the game I am afraid of....

He of course says Mizzou will go undefeated.. I however, think this will be OU's hurdle.. If they can beat Mizzou then we got it covered.

Only Saturday will tell....:D :D

I don't understand his formula either. He has us with the lowest computer score than anyone else in the top 20 except Hawaii at #20. He has his top 5 the same as both polls but drops us to #12 for some arbitary reason.

I agree that our LB's can't cover. They've never been able to cover; I don't think Venables knows how to teach it. Granted, in this system, one has to wonder why the LB's WOULD ever cover, except perhaps in some kind of underneath zone waiting for errant passes. To trail a TE though... no one's been able to do it consistently since Stoops arrived.

But our DB's ARE that bad. Cosby running free for the tying score with Reggie Smith pulling up letting him go, DB's playing 15 yards off receivers... thankfully Reggie peaked when he did because for the first 2.5 quarters of the game he looked like a dang tard half the time.

Nic Harris, however, does not.

I also wonder if Reggie's getting pantsed so much because people don't seem to throw at Marcus Walker so much. I can't tell. I'm just not satisfied at all with our DB work this year. Or last. Or the one before that.

I think Massey's ratings give too much credit to 1-AA teams. A win over an undefeated 1-AA and 1-A team are the same in his formula.

The BCS standings are only relevant for us if we run the table. If we lose one more game yet manage to get in the CCG and win we will go to the Fiesta.

IF we run the table we AT WORST finish 5th in the BCS. Like a couple people have said the computers will love us after we whip MU on Sat.

Meanwhile odds are good that several of the teams ahead of us lose. Ohio St may be able to run the table so that concerns me the most but I'm pretty confident that Cal, BC and UCF are all going to lose a game along the way. Ideally LSU would lose in the SEC Championship and we would win up getting someone like UCF (if they won out) in the BCS championship.

We take care of our own bizness and then watch it all play out.

Agree that would be the ideal scenario to play USF for the title, but think if the worst happened and USF beats us for the NC? We were the laughing stock for Boise and then comes USF getting their first NC by beating once vaunted Oklahoma.

We should be #2 or #3. We beat MU and the computers had them at #3 in the BCS pre computer rankings. BC or USF should not move up and has it been pointed out that Ohio State has not played a top #25 team? Should they really be #1?

south florida who did they play? BC what they play ND? I mean we have beaton a few decent teams. Heck with all the complaining about our defence it might have been forgotton that MU was a high scoring team. We held them to 57 yards rushing but gave up yards passing. Actually OU did really well tonight. As for BC or USF they wouldn't stand a chance against Saxet or MU. IMHO.

As for BC or USF they wouldn't stand a chance against Saxet or MU. IMHO.

USF beat UCF by 52, a 49-point improvement over how Texas played against them. Texas has gotten better since then, but USF is no slouch. They've got a lot of speed, especially on defense. They could beat Texas. If it were in Tampa, I'd take USF by 2 TDs, at least. I like their chances against Missouri, too.

Boston College is another story, though. I wouldn't worry about them. They'll lose at least once before the season is over.
