I noticed this on one of UT's signatures on their board....They are claming the following NC years...Please tell me that this guy is not trying to claim our years as National Championship years.....

Signature on Hornfans.com - "
1949 - 1950 - 1975 - 1983 - 2002 - 2005

 1950 - OU was AP National Champ....

 1975 - OU was AP National Champ....(USC claims this one 1974, which is ridiculous)

 2002 - Must have been a wet dream on their part....By the way, I am not saying OU claims this as one also, but UT didnt even beat OU that year...Dilusional

UT didn't beat OU in '75 either. In fact, I think '75 is unanimous for OU.

That was my point exactly actually...I was just making the comment on their claims to our titles...I can't remember if we have ever won a National Title without beating UT...That game has always been the game to win...I may be wrong on that fact, but correct me if I am wrong...

I don't think those are National Championship claims, because he doesn't even have the ones they were actually awarded on there except for 2005.

How many outright championships has USC actually won? Seems to me they always piggy back off others.

Heck, if they can claim 2002, we can claim 2003.

Heck, they have no claim to any of those titles listed except for 2005.

1983 Texas was 11-0 heading into the Cotton Bowl and had they won they would have been the national champs because with Miami defeating Nebraska later and such. 1984 Cotton Bowl: UGA 10 Texas 9. Sorry Texas, nothing for you. 1949 should have been OU's considering they went 11-0 with none other than qb DKR.

1950 wasn't unanimous but considering the UPI and AP were the 2 most recognized selectors, OU gets 1950 all to themselves. Kentucky and Tennessee received some other selectors.

1975 was a miracle ending. Ohio State had defeated UCLA in the regular season then UCLA turns around and beats #1 Ohio State 20-17 in the Rose; therefore setting up OU's national championship claim (AP, UPI) by winning the Orange Bowl.

Texas titles are 1963 (AP, UPI), 1969 (AP, UPI), 1970 (UPI), 2005 (unanimous)

I think the sig has to do with baseball.

1970 is one that Nebraska, Notre Dumb and USC all claim, too. Were there any losers that year?!?

Bowl eligible = NATIONAL CHAMPEENSHIP!!!!!111!1 :stunned:

I have DVDs of former OU-Texas games where pre-2005, they are "TWO-TIME NATIONAL CHAMPIONS," do the quick math and the Rose Bowl makes three.

The 2003 OU-Alabammer game, there is a little list ABC/Espin puts up with these numbers.

Notre Dame - 8
Oklahoma - 7
Nebraska/Alabama/Michigan/Miami - 5
Ohio State/USC - 4 (add the 2003 Participation Award and the 2004 BCS trophy, their only real BCS title, you get 5.5/6, whatever... not eleven as they claim).

Many others were listed at three and two but this was a list of the "most National Championships" and nobody, in 2003 had more than 8. No one beyond OU and Notre Dame had anymore than 5. I think Hollywood got a little too involved in college football in recent years and went about balls-deep on Matt Leinart's USC team. Since their winning streak of 34 games, 13 shy of Oklahoma's 47-game RECORD winning streak... all of a sudden championships are claimed by the dozen by schools undeserving.

I'm sorry Texas, but you had a 10-1-0 record in 1970... Nebraska was unmarked and clearly a better team. Did we mention you're claiming a National Title along with two others that season?

Has anyone ever figured out who woulda been champion each year in the modern era by BCS formula? It would be interesting to see who has the most by today's standards.
