I figure I can start a different thread for each game in this series, since there's probably only gonna be two more of them left, tops.

I BELIEVE!!! :D

Anyway, we're already in postseason form with runners on base. Which is to say, scoreless. And since Ted Lilly is Ted Lilly, he walked the leadoff hitter. Gah.

Lilly is looking horrible, but just made Stephen Drew look worse.

Meh, I'll just post in this thread.

Geovany Soto

I swear, Lilly needs to find some frickin control.

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:04 PM
Thank you, Lilly. Cubs give you a lead, and you give it right back.

bri
10/4/2007, 10:05 PM
So who was saying that Lilly isn't shaky?

At least we managed to have a lead this time.

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:07 PM
You gotta be kiddin me. Get an out, plz.

bri
10/4/2007, 10:08 PM
maybe if we'd have had all three outfielders standing within five feet of the wall, that might have gotten held to a single.

And that's why we're the Cubs.

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:09 PM
What a great 3-0 green light. I've been seeing that a lot in the playoffs, and I really don't understand it.

A Gold Glove LF or CF makes that an out.

bri
10/4/2007, 10:16 PM
Apparently, playing more than three extra games really f*cks with the guys' vacation plans.

bri
10/4/2007, 10:17 PM
Oh, and Frank Calliendo can suck a dick. F*cking unfunny waste of pie.

i think my 13 year old could have made that catch, but he's a pretty good outfielder. :)

Freakin' Doug Davis? The guy is a horrible pitcher, and if the Cubs can't beat him they don't deserve to even play game 3

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:22 PM
Well, at least that hit came on the first pitch, instead of the tenth.

bri
10/4/2007, 10:23 PM
It's almost like Lilly is trying to encourage our offense by showing them how easy getting hits can be. "Look, guys! See how many hits they're getting?"

Jesus H. Christ & Associates, make it stop.

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:24 PM

He's left-handed, so he becomes Sandy Koufax against the Cubs.

OMG a DP. Amazing!

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:25 PM
Frank TV looks worse than caveman.

bri
10/4/2007, 10:26 PM
Soto is doing everything in his power to keep us in this game.

Sadly, whereas we only have one guy giving good effort, Arizona has an entire team that's playing like they're not retards.

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:30 PM
And he just K'd.

bri
10/4/2007, 10:31 PM
Apparently he got the memo in the dugout between innings about getting a good tee time before it's too cold in Chicago.

Ike
10/4/2007, 10:31 PM
that was like a slow motion dive in real time...

tulsaoilerfan
10/4/2007, 10:32 PM
I hate all ****ing things Drew.

tulsaoilerfan
10/4/2007, 10:33 PM
I can't hang with this tonight; it looks like it will end around midnight, and i need some sleep; keep the faith guys!!

Ike
10/4/2007, 10:34 PM
with Lilly at the plate, you almost have to ask "who's swinging who?"

Sooner_Havok
10/4/2007, 10:36 PM
So, how many "There's always next year" signs are we going to see in Chicago next game?

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:37 PM
Actually, with Lilly at the plate you can just tell the other 8 guys on the field to get ready for their half of the inning.

Ike
10/4/2007, 10:38 PM
way to hustle to the bag Lilly...

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 10:38 PM
When did Augie Ojeda become good?

Ike
10/4/2007, 10:38 PM
So, how many "There's always next year" signs are we going to see in Chicago next game?

at least one...

My buddy is going to game 3...and he's a white sox fan.

tulsaoilerfan
10/4/2007, 10:40 PM
So explain to me how Ojeda's not out for going outside the baseline? He clearly had both feet outside the second parallel line; that was a bull**** call

tulsaoilerfan
10/4/2007, 10:41 PM
When did Augie Ojeda become good?
He still sucks

Sooner_Havok
10/4/2007, 10:43 PM
Well, I guess if they won, they wouldn't be the lovable losers anymore...

Ike
10/4/2007, 10:45 PM

because the rule is somewhat confusing

Any runner is out when --
(a) (1) He runs more than three feet away from his baseline to avoid being tagged unless his action is to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball. A runner’s baseline is established when the tag attempt occurs and is a straight line from the runner to the base he is attempting to reach safely; or (2) after touching first base, he leaves the baseline, obviously abandoning his effort to touch the next base;

So it really has nothing to do with the lines on the field...

Sooner_Havok
10/4/2007, 10:45 PM
A STRIKE!

EDIT: TWO!!!!

tulsaoilerfan
10/4/2007, 10:48 PM
well i'm done, and so are the Cubs; freakin' pathetic.

Sooner_Havok
10/4/2007, 10:48 PM
Well.....Come on Lou, you pulled your pitcher for 6 innings, one run, what are you going to do now?

tulsaoilerfan
10/4/2007, 10:49 PM

Okay, but it's still a blown call IMO; he cleary went out of the baseline to avoid the tag, but it wouldn't matter anyway as bad as Lilly is sucking.

Sooner_Havok
10/4/2007, 10:49 PM
This is unbelievable! 3 1/3 innings pitched, 80 something pitches!

Ike
10/4/2007, 10:53 PM

yeah, but it's pretty much umpires discretion as to where the baseline gets established...

thats a call that you aren't going to see very much past little league.

bri
10/4/2007, 10:57 PM
F*ck it; I'm going to bed. I'm not gonna lose any more sleep putting myself through this torture.

Sooner_Havok
10/4/2007, 10:58 PM
OK, four runs....this is do-able...Oh right the Cubs....I bet the Rockies-D-Backs game will be pretty good!

Sooner_Havok
10/4/2007, 11:04 PM
Can we get Z to hit tonight?

bri
10/4/2007, 11:05 PM
Ted Lilly is Steve Bartman with a roster spot.

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 11:06 PM
This is Doug freakin Koufax guys. COME ON!!!

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 11:06 PM

I always thought that was Steve Traschel.

10/4/2007, 11:21 PM

I has no powerz here.

tommieharris91
10/4/2007, 11:29 PM
So the Cubs are back to being the Cubs...

tommieharris91
10/5/2007, 12:03 AM
Top 6th, Ward comes in to pinch hit with men on 1st and 2nd. Has a great AB, and hits the ball HARD to straightaway center for a 2-run double, making the game 8-4. It kinda makes last night's moves look even worse.

So Kerry Wood comes in, and the commentators start talking about Wood & Prior and "the saviors of the Chicago Cubs franchise". Bleh.

bri
10/5/2007, 07:53 AM
Oh well, at least getting swept in the divisional round won't sting nearly as bad as choking in the NLCS.

:pop: You are correct sir.
