Do you have a decent hat shop near by? I know the big Western store in Lincoln offers a variety of cleaning options.

A power washer and a straw hat may not be a good option either. Maybe an old tooth brush and some comet will do the trick.

Comet and tooth brush. That brings back memories. Mom had me clean my shoes that way as a kid. Not sure why she didnt just throw them in the washing machine.

Found this fo ya.
For cleaning straw hats:
Brush them frequently.
For light dirt use a piece of velvet that has been held in the steam for a few seconds. Rub in circles.
For very stubborn stains.. try some dry cleaners fluid.
For light straw try ½ teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide and ½ teaspoon of warm water
For dark straw hats try ½ teaspoon of ammonia and ¼ cup of water.

just get a 10 gallon bucket, fill it with water and peroxide and drop the hat in. I would think that would work.

Well, it say's to use a piece of velvet, but since I don't know where you'd get a piece of velvet(other than tearin up my Elvis picture), I'd think a warsh rag would work.:D

Don't get it too wet, or it will shrink to fit your other head.

You know as welll as I do, character takes time. Sweat, Beer, poonanny, dirt, mustard, mayo & few other things will hook it up. Hell, you wanna clean it, rub it up against a hay bail. My shoes have never been cleaner than when I was haulin hay.:pop
