Anybody see it? Please give a review. It was recommended. Who thinks what about it?

Good story. Over two hours long. First hour was kind of slow. Second half was much better. The last 10 minutes are fantastic! The final scene is awesome.
well worth the time to see it.

Im a big history-buff (thus the Poly Sci degree) and I thought it was pretty okay. The middle 1/3 was a little slow. Picked up a little. If you like East German stuff, you will like the movie.

acting is pretty darn good. Just watch it, or do what I did and bittorrent it :)

Rush, basically it's about the extent to which the Stasi spied on everybody and everything, and how people in dictatorships are torn between living their lives and spying for the state. It's centered on an East German writer/academic who is being spied on.

And yes, it is good.

Writer-director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck is a master of tone and place.

it's a very well made film. it's a pretty slick albeit conventional narrative. though, the "romantic" dissident thing is overplayed a bit, to me.

to say it's the best foreign film of last year is a big stretch. it's worth seeing, IMO.
