Peterson’s record-breaking debut month included an NFC-best 383 rushing yards and an NFC-leading 549 yards from scrimmage. Peterson matched a Vikings record for most 100-yard rushing games by a rookie with three, the same total Chuck Foreman had in 1973 en route to being named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Peterson has averaged 137.2 yards per game from scrimmage with 549 combined rushing and receiving yards.

He's also doing well in K.O. returns.....They love him in Minnesota, but unfortunately, he's the only thing they like in Minnesota about the Vikings.

Oh, and AD just about disappears from the game plan in the 2nd half of Viking games.

Reggie Bush still hasn't broken a run over 18 yards in his career. This year his longest is 10 yards. AD already has a 55 yard run.

Reggie Bush is averaging 2.8 yards a carry. AD is averaging 5.

This year Reggie has 80 yards. AD has 383.

Reggie Bush is by far the most overrated player in the NFL.

Congratulations, AD!

Adrian IS the Minnesota offense.

Great for AD. Lets just hope the Vikes can stay competitive in games so they can stick with their running game and not have to resort to pass only in at attempt to catch up. I'd love to see AD average over 100 yds per game for the season.

Now to just get The Ravens to open up the "O" a bit so Clayton gets some more touches.

yah i was gonna say, if they would feed him the ball more, not only would he be obliterating stat records, the vikes might win some more games. at least have the guy in the game and not on the bench so the defense doesnt get comfortable.

you mean in NFL history.

im trying to figure out why it is always "Reggies Bush and the Saints" when he has yet to actually contribute anything to that team. i would say Brees or Colston would be more appropriate names in that phrase.

and i think the reason Bush is always listed with all purpose yards is because they have to combine all of his yards to make it look like he has done something. i busted out laughing when they compared his all purpose yards with lendale whites rushing yards(who also splits time) and they said they are having similar production!

it will be interesting to see how Bush handles the full load now that Duece is out.

Yeah, what's up with that? Do they just not like to throw him the ball?

IIRC I think Clayton has had a nagging injury since training camp.

AD not getting the ball in the second half is a big bone of contention with the posters on the Viking boards.

It's kind of silly to make this about Bush.

As it should be; 2 carries in the second half is a freakin' waste of his talent

That line again: 12 carries, 112 yards. The latter number credits the Vikings for stealing a star with the seventh pick in the draft. The former -- 12 carries in a gotta-win game -- discredits the coaches for not knowing a good blur when they see one.

Here is a thread about this subject on the Vikings Message Board (http://vikingsmessageboard.com/viewtopic.php?t=14541).

Why is it the great ones to wear Crimson always end up with the dog teams? Could you imagine AD in the Dallas or New England backfield? Or even the Viagra Packers , the Colts or even the Steelers? Too bad for AD that his career might be short because of the pounding he will take being the only go-to player on the team. Hopefully in the next couple of years they will draft him a great line and a decent quarterback.

with the number of carries he gets, he wont be getting much of a pounding. heck he might get to play well in to his 40's, when he is a man!

I think his rep. is that he's not a great pass catcher. I'm not sure that's accurate though. I mean he's such a weapon so find a way to get him involved in the passing game.

Here is Clayton's own words written Sept 4th

So the big show is here and im trying to get ready to at least get a taste of Monday Night's game against Cincy. I have been battling a high ankle sprain that happened vs the NYG. I was making this crushing block, LOL right, or a block on a DB and as i was driving him down the field a group of big boys chasing Mike Anderson like a pack of lions huntin for food came and the pack fell on me... I was like O MY GOD... Demtrius Williams came up and asked me if i was alright and I just shook my head and said "Nope". I got up, hobbled off and got the bad report... it's been a tough 3 weeks for me. Being injured is hard to handle for anybody when u know what u can do, but all u can do is watch and say what u woulda done if that was you... Well, I thank God for allowing me to b able to practice this week. It's still pretty sore. If anybody has had a high ankle sprain where u feel it up your leg you know what im talking bout..

While Bradley is the Bears best receiver right now, he is in the Lovie Smith's dog house and is officially listed as 5th string WR. He also plays some special teams.

The completely unsubstantiated rumor is he wouldn't stop bad mouthing Grossman in the locker room.

I have been a diehard Vikings fan my whole life, AD is the only positive thing on this offense, as much as I would like to see him running 25 times a game, Childress or as we affectionally call him "the bald Eagle" might be doing a good thing by limiting him. He has some decent young talent around him and the Vikings could be a contender in two years if two things happen.
1. Fire Brad Childress
2. Bring in an NFL caliber QB.

I dunno, Tommy Harris and Roy Williams seemed to have some success on good teams. And hes not gonna take a huge pouding being on the Vikings, because they are limiting his carries and also because the Vikings have a pretty good running game in general.
