Buying beer in Texas with Oklahoma ID could prove challenging

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Because of the way some State Fair of Texas
concessionaires interpret state law, Oklahomans who travel to
Dallas for the Texas-Oklahoma game this weekend might have trouble
buying beer.

Some fair vendors are choosing not to sell alcohol to people who
appear younger than 30 and present out-of-state identification.
The reason is a quirky state law that says a vendor who sells an
alcoholic beverage to someone under 21 has not violated the law if
the person buying the alcohol has what appears to be a valid Texas
I-D.

That same protection does not apply if the purchaser presented
an out-of-state license.

That means Oklahoma fans with valid Oklahoma licenses might have
trouble buying booze this weekend if they appear under 30.

I can see that goofy law applying in Oklahoma sadly. We have some crazy ones ourselves.

I had that problem when I tried to buy beer after the 2001 game.

I also had that problem when I first moved down in 2005. The new OK DL has better security features then tx one, but it took a store manager to approve the purchases. Seriously, it's an hour north. I doubt they gave the evacuees from LA the same problem with their IDs.

I go to the game, and get the hell out of the fairgrounds as quickly as I can. I hate that ****ing place with all my blackened soul. Them Texans can stick their Fletchers and their funnel cakes, and their Big Tex, and their no-selling beer up their filthy bungholes. I ain't got time to stop for a beer in that God-foresaken wasteland. My favorite part of the trip each year is crossing the Red coming back home.

Seriously guy. Why Zima?

C&CDean

Zima ain't > anything. I don't care if it's 180 proof Zima.

Besides, I drink whiskey. Chasing whiskey with 3.2 beer doesn't bother me a bit.

[Sigh] I'm fairly sure I look under 30 at least some of the time only because I've been caught without my ID a couple times and have been refused service. I also drink a lot of Diet Coke, and and I'm pretty sure it contains formaldehyde and ethylene glycol, so you see I'm preserving myself from the inside out.

My only point is that you have to realize seriously, if I'm denied beer, I can be a very unpleasant human being.
