View Full Version : My Neighbor's Effed Up Halloween Display

We live in your typical, run-of-the-mill Edmond neighborhood. Lots of kids running around, soccer moms, SUVs, etc.

So last night I'm driving through, and I notice a neighbor has decorated his lawn, presumably for Halloween. Now, many of the other neighbors also have displays... pumpkins, scarecrows, that sort of thing. Even a few styrofoam grave markers. But this one guy has put up a three foot crucifix, except in Jesus' place is a big, grinning skeleton.

It just seems a little... odd.

Is a crucified skeleton a common Halloween thing somewhere in the world and I've just missed it, or is this guy a potential serial killer?

I'll go take a pic tonight when he turns the on his purple and yellow shrubbery lights. Wierd, man. Wierd.

Crucifixes really don't make me think of Halloween.

Yeah, I guess that would be sorta like putting a jack-o-lantern on the porch in recognition of Easter.

A jack-o-lantern getting humped by a big pastel bunny maybe?

Maybe the crucifix is just a representation of death to your neighbor?

I think their display got picked up by the garbage man today (it's big trash day).

I was willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt... thinking maybe he had come with some creative and novel way to visually represent Halloween.

Then I just drove back by it and got a better daytime look. The whole thing is splashed with red paint as if to make it look all bloody.

Nope. Sorry dude. It's just creepy. And not "fun fall hijinx chills 'n' thrills" creepy. More like "see if this guy is a registered sex offender" creepy.

Somebody at work put up Christmas decorations last week. It was still freakin September. Luckily, they only lasted an hour before somebody else took them down.

According to a certain anonymous poster on this board whose name I shant divulge (however, his initials are jk) dude has commited a felony. I think. Maybe not until he lights it up. Or maybe a neighbor has to do it for it to be a felony. But I'm pretty sure it's still a certified hate crime any way you slice it. But I could be wrong. Alls I know is crosses in yards with blood and skulls and **** are probably a felonious hate crime deal. Or not. Who the **** knows?

Putting a cross with a skeleton on it in your own yard is a hate crime? Against whom?

Ahhh. Good point. In fact, I'm related to a lot of dead people, which makes me at least PART dead.

I'm suing.

Sorry, not really fitting. But about the closest I'll get to getting to work this into a thread.

My neighbor has an insane wisteria vine on their back fence and everytime it get near my yark I hack the offending shoots to bits. Offensive vines are much worse than creepy Halloween decorations.

Creepy neighbor just put up a charming new display this year.

He did NOT re-use the crucified skeletons from last year, this one is not quite as bad as those were.

OK, that little ol' cross is like a grave marker cross.
Obviously, a zombie left his skull on it.

Heh. When I first saw the display, the face was turned away from me. Since the guy is a McCain supporter, well... let's just say I was relieved to see it was just a skull face.

Wait!

What's in the flowerbed behind the hanging pile of clothes? Is that supposed to be a ghost? Dude goes all out to hang a pile of clothes and put a zombie skull on a cross, then goes and puts a posterboard ghost in the flowerbed?!

Hmmm

I used to go all out for the halloweenz, now I just put a dozen pumpkins around. Too many thieving little miscreants about. We still put out an impressive Christmas display, but I have it all attached to the ground securely to prevent theft. It always happens the first night school lets out for Christmas break, little jerks.
