Does anyone actually use hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash? It says on the bottle you can, but I never known anyone to do it. Is it effective?

My grandpaw used to when he had a sore inside his mouth. He normally used "classic" listerine. He was tuff!

He also brushed his teef with soda and salt. When he gargled with peroxide after that, he foamed at the mouth like he had hydrphoby!

Pretty cool thing to watch when you're five.:D

I use it the week before dental checkups. It's really not that bad, but it foams like a mofo.

I do believe they call it a debriding agent...just gets rid of germs and helps loosen plaque...not ment to freshen your breath though...

If you get mouth sores, or a cut in your mouth, it is good to use.

there are lots of uses for it

i've heard of people marinading steak with it

of course, JHH also used commercial grade H2O2 to make his TATP...

just don't swallow it. it has free radicals that may do harm. There's a crest mouthwash that has peroxide in it. It's good for you if you have gingivitis, too.

Maybe you should rethink that. I hear it's great in getting that long lasting Achmed taste out. ;)

I do only when I have a **** load of sores in my mouf. Like when you're sick and stuff. It's not too bad. Don't go drinking it or anything... it's not poisonous or anything, but it makes you... "gassilatiously uncomfortable" as my dentist (best friend's mom) says it. :D Works really good if you have a case of that morning nastyness that bulds up.

You'll be very thirsty, as it dries your mouth out bad, too. The Listerine Whitening wash has a lot of Peroxide in it. Works about the same and leaves you all minty.

Listerine is every bit as effective in fighting plaque, is an ADA-approved rinse, and it tastes much, much better. As an added bonus, it contains 21% alcohol for those of you who are desperate to catch that early train to Drunkytown. :D

for a sore throat, gargle with:

2 parts liquid benedryll (helps with inflamation)
2 parts listerine (kills the germies)
1 part hydrogen peroxide (heals the sores on the back of my throat from strep)

and as stated above, do not swallow it, it'll make you throw up your toenails

The foaming action is killing all the germs...oxygen reaction to stuff. It doesn't exactly taste good, but it works and in combo with brushing may give you that "return from the dental appointment feel" your teeth have after a cleaning...

rf5, just get a bottle of Peroxyl, or if you don't want to pay name brand price for it, the generic version that will be next to it in the drug store.

usually the only liquid benedryll I can find is children's, but it works just fine too.

Did y'all ever figure out what was up with 1TC's blonde pubes?

Oh, and how was your dentist appointment?

OU4LIFE said you showed him how to clean his putter with peroxide...I've been waiting for you to chime in on this thread.

I use peroxide for mouthwash in the evenings, especially if I ate something heavy on onions and/or garlic. Works great.
