Saw and heard it on Channel 4 news tonight. Brian Brinkley reported it on his 10:00 sports report.

You would think that ESPN would have something on their website about.

SOONER STEAKER

May be o late to confirm the source but he said there would be a news conference tomorrow and at that time Fran would step down as HC.

I'm not doubting you've seen it, but you would think that ESPN would talk about it. Hell, the aggies aren't going crazy over at texags.com either.

Just saw some stuff over at Teasags.com. Apparently the admin there has deleted several topics that are saying the same thing. Franchioe to resign.

All the other boards are saying the same thing. Wonder if he's in legal trouble and they're cutting his rope?

that HIPAA thing is what really stood out to me. they can assess some ugly fines, if i'm remembering correctly.

Wider affect for other coaches?

Many other major-college coaches, including Texas's Mack Brown, have their own Web site. Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer, through his Web site, offers a "Coach's Club" membership for $39.95 per year. To members, Beamer's Web site promises "the best, up-to-date, daily practice and injury reports straight from Coach Beamer, right off the practice fields."

There was no such report on Channel 4. Might want to be careful as to the sources you attribute.

I have just checked and there is absolutely NOTHING on the news wire about this, and if there truly was anything going down today, the athletic department - or the school - would have called all news outlets to say "Surprise announcement press conference at 10 a.m. today" or something of that sort, without giving details of what the conference would entail.

As this is the case, it is mere speculation and NOT going to happen. Fran plunked a million of his own money into athletic facilities this season, Fran is desperate to become an Aggie because he is obsessed (for some strange strange reason) with belonging to the 12th man team and all.

FRAN IS NOT RESIGNING (yet), OK? LOCK THIS MEANINGLESS THREAD, plz

The rumor on the one Aggie board allowing a thread about this is a 4pm press conference.

All rumor with ZERO verifiable source, but it is out there .... for whatever reason.

i don't think whether he wants to be an Aggie or not is the issue...

I believe it is part of the issue, because I think Fran's ego wouldn't allow him to willfully resign from a program he has invested so much in... and his wife doesn't want to move anymore after all the moving he's done in the past decade.

Fired? Yes. Resigning? No.

I also think that with the Aggies in a fair position in the Big 12 South now, they may wait this out to see if the Aggies can finally muster that conference title game appearance after last year's disappointment. Is football less important than loyalty to student athletes and respect to their medical privacy? Well, we're talking about A&M, and football is everything there.

That's funny, because people at Channel 4 (KFOR) have no idea what you're talking about. And for you to come onto an open forum and attribute news that you obviously made up to a media outlet is dangerous legal ground.
