National perception...we lost two a big twelve team, they lost to an SEC school.

Yeah, Auburn is probably better that the Buffs, but Florida lost at home. I'd call it a push.

Not that it matters, but they got beat. We had the game in hand, and collapsed.

Wow. Never thought I'd see the day that South Florida and Kentucky were in the top 10. Or that we'd be ranked behind them.

They just posted the AP poll. LSU is the new #1 and we are #10 in the AP in addition to the Coach's.

Pretty much everything else the same in both polls, except the 1-2 flip.

Honestly, who cares if we're one spot behind Florida. We deserve every bit of the drop that we got, after sucking so badly in every facet of the game yesterday.

Good thing we were looking forward to Texas, now the lustre is completely off that game along with the pressure.

One thing is certain, someone in that game is going to have back to back losses and that team is the one whose season is going to be ruined. A secondary bowl and a big time hit in credibility is what the loser of the OU Texas game gets next weekend.

Something to think about...

I would say it matters since last I checked the team still had a chance to run the table and get back into the national championship picture. How far a team drops impacts how far they can climb. But you're right, we should just dwell on how bad we sucked yesterday and pack our bags for Shreveport.

All in all, I am happy that we landed in the top 10 cause I really thought it might be worse. I am also not surprised that Florida ended up ahead of us. Even though their loss was at home, it was to a better team than the one that we lost to. With the current state of the Big XII, we are not going to catch any breaks in national perception and after yesterday's lackluster performance I really can't blame a lot of people. What I will be encouraged by is the knowledge that the cream does eventually rise to the top and there are many more weeks for us to climb back up as teams in front of us lose.

We beat UT next week in the Cotton Bowl and everything else will work itself out. I just hope that we get a rematch with CU is Kansas City because on a neutral field, I think we beat them by 2-3 touchdowns.

If we win out, by the end of the season, the CU loss will be considered to be the fluke it was not, but that's how the pollsters think.

I'm not an SEC apologist, but why in the world is S. Carolina not ranked higher? They beat Georgia in Athens and their only loss is to #1 LSU?

I don't think Florida being 1 spot ahead of us will really matter at all. I mean, what's their next three games? LSU, Kentucky, and Georgia? South Carolina is in 5 weeks or something aswell and they end the season against Florida State.

If that happened we'd honestly have to be considered long and hard for the NC game assuming we won out to get there. One loss where we were clearly the better team on the road that we showed was a fluke with a big win has the makings of one of the best 1 loss teams. If we Tulsa could win their conference and Miami could be in contention for one that could make up for what is said to be a down year for the Big XII.

We got beat by CU.

We have no right to complain about any 'ranking' issue for the time being.

When we're #3 behind USC and LSU looking every bit as no. 1 as them, that's different.

But again, we got beat by CU.

We're fourth in Sagarin. I have no idea how. Could this be right?

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt07.htm

Edit: I suppose our overall ranking is being driven by the Pure Points, or Predictor, in which we're ranked first. This is based on points scored/margins of victory.

The metric that the BCS uses has us ranked 38th.

I wondered about that--that's how they take point margin out when dealing with, in this case, Sagarin's rankings, right?
