Ok, I agree what Vick did was wrong. But I never understood how you can be charge twice for the same crime? I don't know that I agree with that. The feds got him how can the state charge him for the same charge.

I agree. It is piling on. I guess we'll see what the judge says.

Short answer: Its not necessarily the same charge. The fed rap is over interstate trafficking in fighting animals. The state rap is probably about violation of some statute barring dog-fighting &/or cruelty to animals.

Anyhoo, even if this were a case of the same offense, two sovereigns are involved here; Uncle Sammy and the Commonwealth of Virginia. That is not considered piling-on. It's federalism at work.

Let this be a lesson to ya! If you haul dogs across state lines to fight them, you'll likely get charged with state and federal offense(s). As a dog lover, I think that's just peachy.

Well to me its like the guy who shoots somebody dead. he gets charged with murder in the 1st degree , shooting with intent to kill.

i know the second charge doesn't mean squat. But it never made sense to me

I think the way they are treating him is hypocritical. Heck they don't sentence child molestors to as much time as they are talking about hitting him with.
I'm a dog lover, but sometimes enough is enough.

I agree. I don't care for Mike Vick. At all. He's pretty despicable, but what he did is far less socially despicable than, say, beating the **** out of his wife or girlfriend.

There is part of me that would like him to stop being all apologetic and just be like, "You know what America? I like dog fighting. It's fun. I like gambling on dog fighting. Deal with it."

Maybe Vick needs to talk to OJ to find out how to get out of not paying any prison time for any of the charges.

Uh, hello? All OJ did was kill worthless people. Vick actually - GASP - killed dogs. He's gonna fry.

And I just saw that he failed a drug test (weed). He just needs to be locked up for stupidity now.

Vick failed a routine test today. They found marijuana residue on his urine sample. Vick is not smart, 5 lawyers are advising him and he commit this stupid mistake.

I dunno about Vick, but I generally refer to a "water bottle which contain(s) dark particulate marijuana matter" as a "bong."

Reminds me of the McVaugh case. Wasnt the guy already going to fry from the fed charges? Then the state trials took place? If so its nothing but wasted tax dollars.

Hell, if I were Vick, I'd claim the pot clouded my judgement and the dog treatment was a result of that.

There must be a sympathetic jury out there some place.

Except for one small problem. Weed doesn't make people belligerent and aggressive. Vick would have been more likely to giggle a lot and eat all the milk bones in the house. He could try claiming alcoholism.

Or roids.
