I got home so late I didn't catch sportcenter to see the results of yesterdays drag race, but saw this today.

The video shows a piece of debris shooting out from the car on the left lane(Kenny Bernstein)which is a piece of styrofoam used to cover the timing lights at mid track, just after Kenny hits the thing it shot out right at Johns car and then the rear tires explode..turns the car of Force into the car of Kenny's. It then seperates after the chute comes out ripping the car in half leaving Johns legs hanging out making contact with the wall.
Ordinarily there is a box covering the legs of the driver in both Top Fuel and Funny car but in this instance the force of the impact seperated the box from in front of the driver.
But the good news is he has not life threatening injuries, but does have some other injuries such as small fractures in two fingers and abrasions on the tips of several fingers/left wrist was not broken, but was severely dislocated.
It's been bad year for the John Force racing team,weeks ago his daughter Ashley's funny car exploded in a ball of flame scaring the hell out of John, then earlier this year his teammate, Eric Medlen, was killed in a practice session accident in Gainesville, Fla., in March.
Edit to add:NHRA doesn't believe the foam had anything to do with Forces tires exploding, rather there was evidence that the rear tires had come apart due to failure.
