The Haka, a traditional Maori tribal warrior ritual, is performed by the All-Blacks - the storied New Zealand national rugby team before each match. Even when the All Blacks play overseas, the fans go wild when they do this ritual. If this doesn't intimidate opponents, nothing will. Check out the sheer intensity and raw testosterone behind this Haka performed by this burly bunch of jocks ready to rip off their opponents' heads. They apparently do a number of different ones. This one on YouTube must translate to the Bill Callahan Haka:

Not just the new zealanders, most of the pacific island teams do something similar. The samaons are the coolest with all of their tatoos.

I believe the Hawaii football team does a version of the Haka before games as well.

Upon further review, BYU also does a Haka.

Maybe Clownahan can get some proper throat-slashing gestures from our Maori friends. And, maybe he can add that tongue sticking out thing to his repertoire.

Think the All Blacks have cut the throat slash gesture from the haka, but I'm sure Bill would be happy with it.

It figures the WAC wants to ban the Haka. Anything that cool cannot possibly be allowed at a WAC game.

BYU Haka? This I gotta see. Must be a stiffer, less macho version of the Micronesian ritual.

There's another video on YouTube of the All Blacks doing their Haka and then the Samoan team doing theirs as a reply. Awesome stuff.

I'm not an expert with body language....

But...

I think those fellers are sayin' that they are gonna poop on the other guys and then slash their throats....

That's pretty intense...

there's a couple different versions they do. I've watched them play a few times while over here. #9 is a bamf (he was leading the haka)

You have to consider that the Mormons have a strong presence in Polynesian areas. BYU started doing it at the behest of one of their Polynesian players.

The BYU football team also does it. I was sitting right in front of them at the TU-BYU game when they broke into it. I was about 15 feet from these polynesian(and others) lineman who were into it like no other. I'll never forget number 75's peircing eyes as he lead the dance. I was intimidated....luckily TU was not:)
