They showed Stoops calling signals and wearing arm bands, what is up with that?

I noticed it but didn't put 2 and 2 together.

Yes he was signaling the defense starting late first, beginning second half last night. I believe those arm bands he suddenly appeared with were Brent's. Look, Bob knows this team's a contender and he knows the D is still weak in pass defense and I think he's not taking anymore chances. This is GOOD if not Fantastic he's gotten sick enough to butt in on things and take more of a personal interest. This makes OU THE team to beat if he continues. Forget LSU, forget USC. OU is IT with Stoops doing more with the D!

LOL

That is extremely disconcerting.

It's a good thing he had those armbands on tho, b/c I believe the little flap on Sam's was breaking, so Stoop's switched with him

I think he's gotten more involved in the defense the last couple of years. Especially the DBs and it's shown. They've played a bit better the last 2 years then they did in 04 and 05.

Venables was still calling the D. Bob was basically helping him it looked like.

Bob was watching the hand signs from BV, and then copying them. It was funny to watch actually.

I wish Bob WOULD call the D pretty much. I haven't been a fan of Venables since he took over and my opinion is that Bob props him up for the most part. But that's just one man's opinion....

i noticed that bob was wearing the armbands as well. at first I couldn't figure out why but then it hit me.

Tulsa runs a no huddle offense to keep defenses "off guard" and i think bob was just helping out with the signaling of the plays since we couldn't huddle like we usually do.

It could have been done to counter any effects of spying; one of them could have been giving false signals

I tend to agree with the above poster, our secondary play hasn't been as good as it should be since the departure of Mike.......and my faith in Venebles has wained.

I think our secondary has been pretty good the last 2 years for the most part.

i think Bob is confortable with the Offense and he want to cooperate with BV in calling defense. He might call LBs and let BV call the whole defensive play.

Oh crap! More people complaining about BV as a coordinator. Was he not the coordinator that shut out VY a couple years back? Just checking...

Perhaps it was a no confidence vote on VY's arm at the time but if Texas had decided to pass on that particular secondary it would've been a whole different ball game. I believe it was the same secondary that was torched by OSU and SUC. But feel free to have your own opinion.

BV does a good job, but let us not forget that Vince Young couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat on that day, or that whole first two years for that matter.

Until the day :mack: gave up trying to coach him, then look how things turned out.
